Fleas,

Ask them when they are going to be doing the fan recall.

I find it very impressive that Buell is going to these lengths to try to resolve a problem. Wonder why Kaw didn't do the same with the Doohickey...sorry couldn't resist.

Or 1150GS with the rear drive and head carboning up. Or the 1150RT with the surging.

I've opened up a can of worms with that comment.

For years the HD vtwin didnt have a fan. Unplug it. I consider it icing on the cake.

HD's don't have the rear cylinder tucked way the hell up into a twin-spar frame with minimal airflow.

Buell XB's have a fan for a reason.

One thing's for sure... if I unplug the fan, any pinging will resolve itself with no further intervention.

Think about it....

I still don't understand the fan thing. It's a mystery to me. I see people buying aftermarket exhaust because they claim their bike is too quiet, then they complain about the fan noise?

The fan noise never bothers me. I don't even notice it anymore.

Is it similar to Jerry Seinfeld's theroy of "bad naked" when it comes to women? You know, when the girl he's dating opens the jar while naked and he is put off by it? Now, if that were me, and I was dating that hot chick, I wouldn't care what she was doing...it's ALL good naked. But Jerry's character was a little "touched" as they say down here in the south.

Maybe all the fan bashers are too.

No doubt. It's hard for an engine to ping when the rear cylinder has seized and been reduced to a pile of solidified slag.

FWIW - I spoke with a Buell development engineer (John, maybe...?? Good guy) at the Cycle World IMS in Novi, MI (Jan 6th) - he said the fan noise was an issue they were definitely aware of, and working on.
