Pissed I came unzipped today while riding

I was heading down 56 on the v-max doing about 105mph when all of a sudden my right ankle felt cold and the boot felt loose. I looked down and thought the zipper had unzipped. I got to a gas station and took a closer look. The zipper was at the top but the zip was undone all the way to the bottom. I tried to back off the zipper but it was stuck. I got home and had to use a pair of vice grips to back it off. In doing so I really f 'd the boot up. I called Iron Poney and that said bring it back and we'll see what we can do. I guess that's what I get for $110 boots. Sucks though because I just got them last October.

Man, that zipper looks pretty lame.......course I guess there isn't a whole lotta stress on that, maybe at the ankle.

Let us know if they make good on it.

I'm going to try to get over there tomorrow to return them but they said that they'll have to ship them back to Sidi Vision and see what their responce is. In the mean time all I have is my off road boots. Not much good on the V-max. I may have to find another pair in the mean time. NO zipper this time though.

I bought these Alpine Star "Ridge" boots for less than $100. I ride every day, my feet have never been wet, never been too cold (even on the 12 degree days), and they're all day comfortable as I don't usually bring shoes to change into. They have one zipper on the inside but it's covered by a velco flap.

They're good, cheap boots if that's what you're looking for.

Sounds like your gear works well even unzipped. congratulations

The setup boots are good and comfortable, I like the fit and guards on them. I was just really surprised while riding along to have the boot split open like it did. I do have big legs but not that big!

So I'm no stick figure. But at 6'4" I'd look funny with chicken legs.

This is a great site...

and a decent price. I like how he gives a good description of each item as well as more pix than you would usually find on most vendor sites.
Looks like a nice boot, made in Italy and wide sizes too!

Well, I took the boots back to Iron Poney and as promised they are sending them to the manufacturer to see if they can be repaired or replaced. In the mean time I did some shopping and got a pair of Alpinestar Recons. They are lace up water proof boots, no zipper. I saw the Alpinestar Ridge boots, they were okay but felt very loose in the ankle and tight in the calf. The Recon was about $25 more than the Ridge but feels more like a normal boot. Estimate is 3 to 4 weeks for the reply from Sidi.

If its any help, I commute in alpinestars GPS series boots. I've zipped and unzipped them approximately 1500 times and logged about 50k miles in my current pair (not counting walking distance in them). Zippers still work great, but the goretex is giving out on right toe.
