vulcanizing patches
I've got a near-new tourance that's holed in the center and won't stay plugged. What are some of the best patches for fixing it from the inside? I used some kind of patches on bicycles years back that you burned the back side which melted/bonded it onto the tube. Is there anything like that around now?
TIA! |

I am sure they should still have those old patch kits around, your talking about the ones we used on our first pinched tube. Check a bicyle shop, or wal-mart in the bike section. I think the thickness was the same for the bikes and the motorcycles, back then it was anyway.
(We use to use the bic or zippo to heat set the patch)

There are automotive patches that are meant to be used from the inside out. They have a rubber nipple that is meant to poke thru the hole while the sticky glue on the patch seals the air leak. They are quite effective.

Sounds very cool, since it also uses the air pressure (Positive pressure) to help keep it from blowing out. Be a handy thing to have in the garage/fanny pack, can you find those online?

Yeah, probably some where… I'm pretty sure NAPA will have them and so will tire shops. The ones I have are from Wurth.
