moose -2.5"

I recently discovered that with my Nolan N103 buffeting is greatly reduced in comparison my BMW Enduro dual sport helmet; but since I prefer wearing dual sport helmets, I still need to solve the buffeting with those.

I am curious about the fact that some people say that a shorter windscreen has reduced buffeting for them. Also, I prefer a shorter windscreen because of the visibility from the rider's seat and the general aesthetics of the bike, so I ordered a Moose -2.5" windscreen for my 950S. I din't want to order the -5" because it wouldn't protect my GPS.

This is the size comparison:

The OEM:

The Moose -2.5":

The OEM:

The Moose -2.5":

So the next day I did my weekly 120 mile loop to our job site and wore my Nolan. Buffeting was a bit more than with the stock windscreen with the same helmet at all speeds, this is especially noticeable when riding at speeds over 80 mph. I guess I'll need to return to the stock windscreen for trips where sustaining higher speeds is important, but I'm leaving the Moose -2.5" for daily commute and short sunday rides.

I had an oversize CB shield on over the stocker during a 5-month trip last year. That worked pretty well, especially in inclement weather.

It turns out that the small Wunderlich that came on my wife's F650, and that she doesn't care for, does just as good a job as the CB.

Windscreen Disgust ...... again

http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...5#post22234215

I'm finally getting around to posting some pics:

This has been covered in several threads on the forum.
This was a piece of 1/8" plastic, not sure what flavor, probably polyurethane. I cut it to the basic shape, heated and bent the sides to fit the bill, then used some doubleside tape to stick to the bill. I then dremelled and sanded to make it look nice. Boom, no more dis-orienting eye-rattling; the buffeting I have now is normal.
I did this after buying an Aeroflow and cutting down my stock screen 2". My suggestion is: if you suspect your bill/peak even a little bit, give this a try before you spend a bunch of money.

is there an intention for the light protection screen?
otherwise looks like the winner to me....at least technically and visually

I love do-it-yourself projects but what a piece of junk. $60+ down the drain. Never again Moose Racing.
I've changed out screens a few times to get a back-to-back comparison (stocker vs. Moose shorty). Due to the fact that the alignment of the shorty is so bad, you have to be very careful not to push the rubber mounts/threaded connections through the fairing. The design fail of this screen is that the shape has no angle. It's just a curved piece of plastic, so there's no way it will fit as well as the stock screen. You're far better off to cut down your stock screen.

...can't believe this thread is still going.
I tested al sorts of windshields when I had my 950.
Best solution I found was to cut the stock screen off short, about 2 inches above the dash. Your just not going to get any good results concerning the buffeting outside of some sort of barn door on this bike.

As far as the Arai XD visors go, the vibration, easiest thing to do is to get some auto door trim from Pep Boys (etc) and use it on all the exposed edges of the visor, acting as a stiffiner. I also use those little stick on rubber bumpers found at hardware stores between the visor and the helmet itself. This quells any resonance caused by high speed airflow.
I wear my XD3 on my street bike all the time and it works fine.

Ignore that fat poseur and focus on the helmet...

Sure would be cool if he offered that in a clear or tinted screen.

I'll probably end up getting one anyways. I need to cure this buffeting and wind noise issue.

Aeroflow

I really like my Aeroflow, works great, a hell of lot better than the factory tall screen...which is terrible....With the aeroflow i can ride at 70mph with my visor open on my xd4... Definitely worth the money....no more buffeting...
