I just cut down the OE screen that I wasn't using. Used Yellow Pigs layout. Very easy to cut/file/sand. tried it out on the way to work this morning and there seems to be way less turbulence than the KTM Alien screen I've been running. Can't be sure though as we were getting some heavy rain and wind this morning on the commute. Will have to wait till the wind dies down to make a good comparo. The screen really looks bad ass though!! I think the thing that makes it look good as a cut down screen is the side cuts that YP came up with. It follows the lines of the fairing and looks slimmer. Not so much like a pitbull with it's ears pinned back or just a stubby screen.

Uh...yeah...uh...pics??? Looks...just like yours!!!
I don't have an account setup for pics, yet. Been meaning to do that.

I think I may even go another inch down. Turbulance seenms to hit right on the bill of the XD. Another inch down might get it right on the shield. I like it though. Much better than the alien screen. Still noisey but the drumming has subsided quite a bit.

1st, the template has been mailed to the next deaf rider.
2nd. I tested it yesterday as it 60 degrees here.
Verdict:
Drumming eliminated
I still get weird wind but no drumming in my XD which is all I ask for.
Worth noting, I rode my 610 right after getting off the 950. I still prefer the clean wind off the 610. Its still just cleaner.
But hey no more drumming. Thanks Pig !!!

Welcome!

I'm getting a hoot out of how many people are taking advantage of the scratch paper outline I drew up as a throw away. I'm surprised it's still intact. Maybe everyone that uses it should sign and date it.

Dan,

I chopped it up a bit too, so it's even more surprising that it's holding up.

I've had more time on the bike now, and while it's not perfect, it is a whole lot better. Not quite the clean air of a bike with no fairing, but I don't have to fight the wind with my chest either. I'm able to ride without thinking about how loud it is, which is all that I wanted.

After the YP screen mod I won't be going back to that hideous alien screen. And I commute daily in all kinds of weather. It's that much better. plus it makes the bike feel much more sporty.

BTW folks, you really don't need the template. Just check the dimensions YP gave and look at the pics. Make some marks on the screen, layout with some masking tape and cut away. I used a course rasp for the rough shaping then a smooth file to smooth out more. Then a palm sander with 220 to finish. I left it at this stage and don't see any need to finish the edge any more. But, you can take a rag with some MEK and wipe the edge and it will slightly melt and gloss the edge. Be careful to hit just the edge as this will damage the screen elsewhere. Very simple.

Actually, I've been mailing out traces of it, including one to NZ and one to Portugal. Since it's been 30* or less out, I haven't had a chance to test it.

And at the moment, I'm at the folk's place in Honolulu, soaking up some sun.

Perhaps an ALL POWERFUL mod can just rename the thread "Windscreen solutions" for us, because that's what it's really become and it has been useful.

Something must be wrong with me cause I get a pleasant ride with the stock screen and stock mirrors. It's hard to keep me off the bike ...... probably will be impossible when the Renazco gets here next week

The stock screen makes my ears ring after 200 miles, thats great id you want to be a tuff guy and go deaf.
Thanks to the many different solutions here people are able to keep there hearing intact.

My girlfriend loves the stock screen when riding the 950, go figure.
The aftermarket screen that works for me is terrible for her.
