Cheers Konrad - thanks for the heads-up. Not sure if I'll get there myself, but I'll work around the dates

Holland Track & Cave Hill - late Oct or late Nov ....

Looking at a few options here for HT/Cave Hill - either Thursday evening Oct 25 to Sunday Oct 28; or Thursday evening Nov 29 to Sunday Dec 2 ... Any preferences for or against ?

busy weekend

Had a busy weekend, got home from work yesterday to find my little girl in labour several hours later and a rather large vet bill we were handed ....... Chong..... son of Cheech ( the Mexican pimp) and Honey ( the gorgeous) . 1 healthy Chihuaha pup.

Whilst she was in labour, some work was taking place in the shed, and the new Snap on Tyre machine was assembled and fired up, a mate of mine in the trade acquired one at the right price and wanted to put it in my shed, how could I refuse!!. Now gotta research and find the best online prices for tyres and do some fitting. ( 6 pack each). Form a line behind me

Sure you know this already- try Rockymountain ATV. I found ordering three/four tires at a time to be the most cost effective. And on WA Michelin prices, I buy three and get the 4th one free. They also stock Avon tires and the way I undrstand it, they provide excellent mileage- maybe just the thing you need for your rig?

Noice

Im also looking for a cheap online place (to buy tyres). RM ATV only saves me USD $25 for two MT21's which isnt worth it given the time or money or beer spent fitting them.
Tyres for bikes Vic Park, too easy.

Holland Track & Cave Hill - date rethink ???

It's early days yet, but I've got one 'tentative' and a few 'no's' for HT & Cave Hill on the weekend Oct 25th - 28th, and as usual I didn't appreciate that other things were happening - like the OCBR the following weekend.

As a gauge - if this ride was organized either earlier or later - would that appeal to more people?

I'm happy to stick with Oct 25-28, happy to move the date if that is better for more people, happy to go on my own - whatever suits the masses

Vince, put me down for a tentative yes (I've been looking at doing that run - so perfect). Earlier would probably suit a little - though I wouldn't mind either sooner or later.

Search for missing trail bike rider 80km south-east of Perth

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/west...-1226449021687

A MASSIVE search is underway for a young trail bike rider who is missing in bushland about 80km south-east of Perth.

The 18-year-old went missing late yesterday shortly after he crashed his bike near the Brookton Highway in Flint.

A friend who he was riding with went to get help but when he returned to the crash site the 18-year-old had disappeared.

Police are concerned for the teenager's welfare because its believed he suffered a head injury in the crash.

Police and SES volunteers are scouring nearby bushland this morning for him.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 131 444.

Holland Track & Cabe Hill - Oct 11th to 14th

Same plan as before - just revised dates.

NOTE: if there are still takers for the Oct 25th - 28th trip then I'm good for that trip as well - I've got a lot of catching up to do

Thursday 11th October - rendezvous in Karlgarin Thu evening, overnighting at Tressie's.
Friday 12th October - Hyden to Thursday Rock, via the HT.
Saturday 13th October - Thursday Rock to Cave Hill.
Sunday 14th October - Cave Hill back to Perth via Mount Palmer and the unsealed Goldfields road, or whatever it's called.

Here's the link for Oct 11th - 14th ... http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=817027

Sorry tyre question

Hope this doesn't piss anyone off....
I'm doing the usual tyre toss up, but I have fairly specific thoughts about what I want to achieve. Application is adventure riding with sand involved, which i would say you guys do a fair bit of. I usually run 606s , but I always seem to be fighting the front end in rutted sand tracks. I want to compensate a little more for my lack of skill.

Rear - willing to sacrifice a bit of traction for longevity. I'm thinking of D605 or even MT43?
Front - I want good control in sand. Anyone tried Pirelli XCMH?

Appreciate any advice
