The Husky is going again -New battery , went a full size one this time some how I dont think the weight will be a problem.
The DR is together again. That F^&*ing Safari tank, it hates me I hate it. What an absolute shit of a thing to fit. I dread every time I have to take it off, Next time Im making a new cross brace that fits.
But Im "out" on Call this weekend .

Yep, you can't help but think there must be a better way. I've got my method pretty well sorted now but things change over time. I swear the tank is getting bigger and therefore harder to fit each time.

The 2 bolts at the back are easy with a tyre iron.

The 2 bolts at the front are pricks but if you're struggling bad to get the last one in. try to put that one in first. I think it's the left one first. Makes a big difference on mine.

I use a ratchet strap right around the tank and that then squeezes the two wings together to get the bolts in.
Hope that helps
John

When we fitted Watesy's Safari Tank to his DRZ, we put the tank on one of those oil filled heaters and covered it with a blanket. Left it for about 1/2 an hour. Made fitting it way easier as the tank could be squeezed around a lot more. Prior to doing that it was bloody hard work.

I have taken the tank off a couple of times since then And not had any problems putting it back on.

I've got the Noddy car on display at the classic car show all weekend, so no riding for me.

Round 1 of the WA State Enduro Champ's down at Denmark on Saturday. Finally, back on the bike with the motor in it. (Haven't ridden since the Safari last year so about the usual preparation).
