Must've had my eyes closed Rod... Didn't see either...

Wylie Dingo said to say G'day...

Great couple of hours guys. Just a bummer I needed to leave early... Good to catch up with some I had met before and meet some new people. You're all not so scary in person!

Special thanks to Pip for swapping carpark spots with me so Wylie could be in the shade...

Zumo 550 update

Hi there, I wanted to update my garmin zumo but I can't get it to connect to the PC. I was wondering if any perth guys might have a garmin and wouldn't mind giving me some help? I think I might have the wrong cable because it connects and says it's preparing for mass storage mode but then the computer doesn't recognise it. I've download the latest garmin drivers and software to install but it doesn't help because it doesn't pick up the unit. If someone has a PC cable or could give me a hand that would be awesome.

Cheers,
Graeme

I got mine nearly 4 years ago and haven't updated it once. I bought 2014 maps for it and have te software on my computer but I think there is a problem with the cable or something because it doesn't even recognise a gps connected to the computer. If I could try with someone else's cable then I will know that I have the wrong one and can get a new one.

OK now you can all yell cos i posted all this in the wrong place, so dont whinge at me, ill buy the drinks, you show me how the damn site works, cos its beyond me......freebird][/QUOTE]

Hey Pippa, how they hanging? welcome to the place for special (and short) people........a special person Valentino Rossi (The Doctor) wears 46.

You'll get as much help here as you need, just keep asking the questions.

I might suggest that the "Ten" was quite a few years ago, (and none of us are getting any younger ), and the adventure bike scene has changed enormously, so I would recommend that you thoroughly check out what's around these days.

They have an improved power to weight ratio well in advace of the older bikes. I'd start with a look at a DR650 (lighting the fuse and stands well back)

Back on the topic;

I absolutely "murdered" my Zumo 660 earlier this year during a software update. so much so that it had to across to Sydney as there no one smart enough here in WA (apparently). Took several weeks as they lost (sorry misplaced the unit in the process)..

Take the time to get the unit seen as another drive. Persevere until this happens.
Complete the download and proceed to install. Make absolutely sure the download is complete and installed.

Turn off the PC and leave the unit alone. It will commence the update by it self, and do not be tempted to touch it/pick it up/ turn it on/off.

Go and have a cold beer and then check all is well with the unit.

Good Luck
