ok guys & gals
what is a good looking (ok not so important on the XT600) black coating for the header pipes on the XT600?
I no longer have access to the shotblast cabinet at work ('cause the a$$hats laid me off) so it need to be wire brush on gringer/drill/dremel cleanup to get the rust off.
what's the absolute best paint/coating I can do myself for not so many $$?
brand names, application tips, suggestions are all appreciated
I used Plasticoat last time, lasted a year or so

you can use a battery charger, and a plastic tub filled with washing soda to remove the rust electrolytically. use a piece of rebar or other scrap for your anode.
the negative terminal goes to the header, or whatever you're cleaning, and the positive goes to the anode.
whole lot easier than wire brushing.
i've got a rusty header fr a suzuki inline four that's gonna get this done to it... then i may have it jet-hot coated... we'll see what the budget allows; barbecue paint or jet hot. ... or perhaps this thread will reveal something better, for a cheap price.

A ceramic coating like jet-hot will cost quite a bit more, but should be permanent.
