Lewiston, Id - Prince Rupert B.C. Aug. 11-19
At present this is a solo ride starting in Lewiston, Idaho on August 11.
I would like to visit the Horizons Unlimited meeting in Nelson that evening. Sunday morning I will ride North towards Prince Rupert til about Thursday morning, then turn South, heading towards the rally at Nakusp , planning on being there on Saturday. Ride home from Nakusp on Sunday. I will be on an 05 R1200GS and I am planning on camping about 4-6 nights. My schedule and route is fairly flexible at this point if anyone is interested in a ride like this. British Columbia, about 9 days, and August are the only things set at this point.Last fall I got great advice on my first mulitday trip ( to B.C. and Nakusp) and I appreciate anything anyone has to offer on routes, things to see, places to avoid, and I really like to hear about good places to eat! Danno and I will be up that way
GSH, Danno and I should be coming back down from Alaska and will have been out for about 3 weeks sometime around then; maybe we can head back home with ya from Northern BC. We'll talk about it.
I have some great friends in Asotin, WA very close to Lewiston. They have an awesome beach on the Snake and would be a great place to camp!!! I'll hook you up with them if you are interested. You'd really like it.

Springs: Definitely! Let's discuss!
I could ride up with someone, or on my own, kick it for a day or so, and run back down with y'all. I'm open - we'll talk! |

I'm ready
Any opinions on the best map program for Canada? I have street atlas for the U.S.
Once I get a map program and plan out some routes maybe I will need to adjust the number of days a little. Three or four riders ( or more) would be great. Idahosam, tvbh40a, and anyone else, lets go! Sam, I will see you on the 18th for the Brownlee thing at Barley Hoppers in Lewiston and we can discuss the Prince Rupert ride and adjust it to fit both of us as needed. Maybe someone else on that ride will want to join in. Springs, if you are planning on hitting the Nakusp rally - put on by the Bee Cee Beemers club then we can talk about linking up somewhere around Prince George or something. I enjoyed the little bit of the rally that I attended last year so I would really like to make it this year. Nakusp on Saturday morning Aug 18th is the only thing I am planning at this time.

Hyderized Special ?
Hyderized Special?
I had already noted Hyder, AK and was planning on heading that way and the Hyderized Special is a new term to me as well as the bus? Sam I feel your pain ![]() ![]() . Well a llittle bit. I just noticed that in my first post I said that August was set for me. Actually I could do the Nakusp rally on a weekend ride and do Prince Rupert anytime this summer. I am planning Aug 11-19 unless some one comes up with a better plan.

Yes the Bus. You will wait awhile while shes cooks but it's worth it, her husband fishes the fiord so the catch is fresh. Hyderized is a flaming drink served at the local bar. http://www.hyderalaska.com/thebus.html We will still talk about a ride. Glacier/Baniff would be fun.

Distance calculator
I didn't have a good way to find distances in B.C. til yesterday looking at a thread on maps for B.C.
Here is a link to the British Columbia government site. Looks like about 2600 miles of riding to P.R. and back so I need to add at least another day to the trip .

Bump
Now that the Brownlee thing is over I need to get back to finding riding partners for riding to Prince Ruper/ Hyder, AK. The time table is flexible at this time .
Our goal every day will be to have an excellent ( and safe) ride with scenic stops, followed with excellent food either cooked in camp or from the local restaurant. I have found that I can pack the Pyromid folding barbecue with me so we may concentrate on grilled food( steaks, kabobs, etc) while camping. I would like a maximum of five other riders to go along. Once we have a firmed up group and time table we will cut down on every ones load by having fewer stoves, pans, etc than riders. I have tentative dates listed . They can be changed to suite the group. Let me know if you are interested. Roy

Hmmm...
Since my AK ride was hosed this year by jury duty... that would be a nice way to make-up for it... especially if I had a Strom by then.
