Condo via the boonies

I wanted td go to Condo but 380k was just not enough so I decided to go via the Mungo National Park. I didn't know what was out there but it is a world heritage area so hey it must be good. n truth just wanted to get the DR hammering along some dirt road.

Every trip west of Canberra starts in the Brindabellas

from there I went through a variety of dirt roads I just picked at random off Mapsource

ended up going through about 7-8 gates

I was thinking of wonderful forest tracks but in reality it was flat roads over dry country

I found this place, I can't remember where, but they were not open

By the time I had bought some beverages and a little grove of trees beside the road I had
ridden 527k about 480 of which was dirt. This was the first night I had used the Hennessy.

It gets top marks for stealth camping, ease of use and space saving, however by dawn I
had frozen my arse off for most of the night

I was looking for a lot of ridng today, it was straight, but great roads which allowed me to
go flat out all day

four lane highway, outback style

Mossgiel has a big cemetery, that is the gate way in the background left, only about 6
graves though.

a few more straight dirt roads and I was at Mungo

This is the first ancient lake, spectacular eh?

Those lumps in the background are called the 'Great' walls of China!

and the landscape is so varied out here

So, after this excitement I was going to go to Pooncarrie, but it was shut for Easter, so I
thought off to Ivanhoe, a couple of hundred k of brillant roads

Ivanhoe was shut too but I managed to cadge some fuel and headed out late in the
afternoon for Condo. I realised I was too tired, the roads were not brilliant and and so
found a dry watercourse in which to camp. 650k all dirt for the day

Woke up early but still frikken cold, but I was glad I had stopped because the road got
somewhat worse for the next 80k or so. No trouble on the DR though.

So got to Condo, spent a couple of days, photos over at ATGregs thread. On Monday set the
GPS for home, set off with Dakardan for a quick tar rde home. That lasted for about 70k before
we decided to explore some roads just to break the monotony. Thank God for GPS.

I don't know where we were, but we were in the boonies

but it doesn't matter where you are, sooner or later you wll stumble across some ferals having
a confrontation wth some cops

apparently there is a gold mine diggng a tailings dam, and they don't like it.

Anyhoo, ended up in Grenfell for lunch

It was an absolutely brillant weekend, shit frikken hot

bahaha at the photos of dead-straight roads. I could really feel the monotony.

Incredible open spaces!

What kind of super tank is on that DR?

Nev,

I kept thnkng how much fun it was to be on the DR. On the straght bits with great surface I could have gone faster on the GS but it tended to be very quick changes so I think I wll still be in love with the DR for quite a while. I found that frequent very short photo stops made a dfference. My arse has difficulty wth 400k of tar.

Thanks mate,

I wish I had some flash stickers that would stay on the tank though.
