[QUOTE=DRTrev;20017040]Hey Pete, I've been researching side racks and saddle bags. I like the wolfman set up from adventure Moto, have you heard of anyone using theTeton bags. Made out or HD plastic. Anyone else.?[/QUOTE
![]() I went with the water proof yellow ones for the waterproofness and High Viz. Love em, they work great. I'll be getting a top rack and Wolfman duffle next, or may go the andy strapz aa bag, not sure. But real happy with the wolfman kit. Also wanted to post a pic of my bike in the Flinders Ranges, man that is some fantastic country. You blokes are lucky to be so close...

Thought that area looked familiar....
Hey BarneyRubble,
I'm new to this ADVRider but as you're from Adelaide, thought i might ask - do you or any fellow riders plan getting any further north in 2013, for example, a ride across the Simpson, west to east. Would be interested to hear or get any tips as to what forum i should follow this up on if this is not the right place. Thanks. |

To be honest I don't mind them for my pace and the sort of riding I do. They are a little skittish in the corners on loose dirt roads like those in the flinders ranges but other than that ok for me. Also if I want to go for run though the hills I don't have change tyres.

Lots of inmates in here have done the Simpson so there'd be plenty of info floating around just need to get acquainted with the search function on the forum. Cheers BR

Rescue helicopter is free of charge in this state don't know about other states provided it is ordered by police or ambo's so the old man said he was an ambo volunteer at Yankalilla for 20 years.

Mate, I'm so poor I have to pull off the dog to feed the cat!
No seriously, you may know that The Doc and I went to Pooncarie / Top Hut. He was on his DRZ. Long story short, I had tyre issues and couldn't find a 17" tyre, most cockies would have had an 18" to get me out of trouble. So on the way home I thought about lacing an 18' rim on the DR, plus I've never got around to doing the suspension (and it's hopless stock) so I was looking at spending another $1,500 - $2,000 on it. Then I did some soul searching and decided if I spend that money on the DRZ and buy 28 lt tank (already got a 17), another back wheel and chain to easliy change the gearing, some Giant Loop luggage that's all I need plus 2 hours in the shed to turn the DRZ into an adventure bike. Doc's DRZ did everything my DR did, cruised all weekend at 100 - 110 kph plus he had a lot more fun than me in the tighter stuff. Also, I don't use the DR enough to justify the rego and insurance, it's only done 7,700 kms since Feb 2008. When I get really old and retire like DRTrev, and have the time to do really long trips I'll buy a 990 KTM, Beemer or similar. And the trailer well that's another story, I need a trailer for work so I've just ordered a new 8 X 5 and will make up some bike racks to go in it. The problem with bike trailers is they are great for bikes but nothing else. Cheers

Thanks for the feedback on the Wolfman gear fellas. Can't wait to have the bike ready for some travels. Lucky me with a comfy seat too, whereas it looks like Kipo is going to do all of his adv riding on a plank of wood from now on.....

Smoke blew across my parents property yesterday, they kept an eye out for any flying embers, luckily no spot fires, so all good..
