Sounds like the film was a success. Gutted I couldn't make it in the end as was no where near well enough. I reckon I've got consumption or something similar.
I'll grab a copy of the DVD when it's released.

Enjoy watching the SBS coverage when the race is on however getting a personal perspective is just that much better.

Good to see some of the lads as well....it had been a while....since Flinders...
Must get an ADV bike again.....the disposable folding's just a bit thin on the ground these days.
Cheers
Good to see you again last night Con, just remember it costs nothing to get on here and have a yak.

While we are in a inspired Dakar mode I thought I would remind everyone here in SA that our very own Shane Diener has earned free entry to this years Dakar in a few months.

Shane won the Dakar challenge at this years Safari where he came third. As KIZ said earlier, Dakar is not cheap and as most Australians going to Dakar, public support plays a massive part. In short, every dollar helps, and Shane would love your help.

He has started a Facebook page, but I haven't seen much action on that yet, but I was contacted by Greg Slattery last night with this information.

Rod Faggotter was original going to go this year, but due to a lack of funds pulled out a month before Safari. After winning the challenge Shane will now buy Rod's bike, and will be riding supported by the Yamaha France team, Cyril Despres' team.

Now I'm not sure what Shane's plans are exactly, but it looks like things are falling into place well. I doubt there will be supporter packs like the Ned Suisse and Lyndon Poskitt efforts here on Adv rider, but nothing beats having your money on the local champ, and having a personal connection to this years 2014 Dakar, supporting out own legend of the 24 hour trial Shane Diener.

If any one is interested, get in touch with me via PM and I can put you into contact with Shane personally where he can thank you and give you more details.

Cheers and bring on Dakar 2014!

Mt. Bryan East + Surrounds: Nov 8-10

Just an update on the proposed ride (Fri Nov 8 - Sun 10):

I'll be leaving Adelaide (Clovelly Park) around 11:30am black-top to Gawler.

For those out north, we can meet at the Thiele Hwy turnoff, just north of Gawler, at 1230-1300.

Burra via Tothill Ranges, supplies at Burra, then up to campsite at the schoolhouse (see note below re campfires).

Sat - got a couple of ride loops planned. (AM - Murkaby/Koomooloo loop, PM - 'playtime' @ riverbed near Hiles Lagoon, Wonna)

Likely longest distance between fuel - allow 230-240km (Burra Fri to Burra lunch Sat).

Campfires- With the fires in NSW, local authorities are pretty nervous atm, so not hopeful about prospects of a campfire - have to wait and see on that one. If fire is ok, Fri night at the schoolhouse, if not perhaps camp at Caroona instead.

If you plan to come along, PM me just so I know how many are meeting up where.

Looking forward to catching up.

Forma.

While in town Wednesday I called in to GC motorcycles for a Tyre. When I mentioned adventure rideing, the sales man was keen to show me their new line ...... Forma Adventure boots, just in new that day. Sizes are a bit small as my size 11 foot wouldn't fit in their largest 12.(46metric). They ordered in only the most popular selling Motocross sizes . These boots are verrrry light. A lot cheeper than Adventure Moto advertises.
Going to get some bigger ones in next order.

Bugga, I was in there yesterday getting a new rear for the Tiger....didn't see them. I'd be interested in some larger ones myself.
