When I listened to that recording of his Mayday call I thought "Wow, that is one very cool and level headed person. He can hang out with me when I go fishing anytime he likes." then I read a little bit further into the article and a tiny little bit of me died. Are these organisations a breeding ground for these Tools, or are they magnetically attracted to them? I'm really glad they banned him from using a radio. That'll really work.
Bet he starts hanging out at the local McDonalds drive through now pranking the order monkeys to get his jollies.

Righto, about this Pooncarrie/Mungo business. It draws nearer and times a wasting. My bikes ready, almost. Have rebuilt the carbies one last time with the new needle jets from Mick Hone (thanks Masterbrewer for the tip), changed the front tyre to an old K490 that I had laying around, ordered a Mitos E09 Dakar ($130ish from Chappy at Road and Race, cheers mate.) for fitting over the weekend, rebuilt the forks and added a touch more oil to sort the front end, replaced the rusty old bars with nice Renthals alloys and test ridden in. Feels like it'll do the distance with ease. Just need to organise the beer esky, strap the swag on and I reckon I'm good to go still for a Thursday departure.
KevS69 and Masterbrewer, I think you're still go for then. Am I right? Hi HumanOne/Predator, How do we get the eskies collected by the ute of knowledge crew? Do we ice them up before we give them to you or will we meet you guys along the way at the Thursday night campsite or wait until Pooncarrie or Wentworth for ice? Can we give you money for ice before hand so when you go through somewhere early Friday morning you can ice them down while the cans are fairly cool? Does anyone want to share an esky (for cans only)? |

A mates shed. At 10pm I had the bike stripped of all parts except the rear wheel, swingarm, frame and motor. Mate said he didn't care if I stayed there all bloody night, as long as it got finished. By midnight it was done and back together. He went to bed when his wife got home so he didn't get to see my little victory gopher dance.Speaking of such, TurboRob, have you had your forks rebuilt yet? I do a home rebuild service nowadays. Yell out if you want them sorted. It'll cost you a couple of cartons of beer plus parts. |

Sundowner,
I'll happily pay a few cartons for the forks done on the KLR. They're shot after the Melbourne and back run. Leaking and dripping. Can you do new brake fluid too? I assume it's that - brakes aren't too progressive at the moment. Please PM me. Rob. |
