Welcome to the madhouse Graham. I'd like to present you with the complimentary welcome fruit basket on behalf of us all here in SA. (seeing as those other two blokes you have been conversing with are too slack to do it )

If I could sneak another bike into the stable a Tiger would be on the list Sol, although when a ride last week I was looking at the KTM690 & thinking that I could do some serious damage with that !!!

or,

leave it for a few weeks and do a mid week ride with a few of us.

cheers
Cheers for the info Trev. I have looked long and hard at the Flinders Ranges Trip and will not be able to fit that in this year. I have a backlog of commitments until about April 5th or 6th. I'm guessing I don't have quite enough experience for that just yet, either. Midweek ride....yup, I'll be in that!

Tire thoughts

Hi all,

I need a new rear tire for my KLR650 I have just got a new Bridgestone Trail wing 41 on the front as far a i know a 50/50.. if I got the same rear tire would it be suitable for the otway ranges?? i know a nobbly would be better but I commute everyday to work so want to get something that is half reasonable on the road. Any suggestions??

thanks for your time

The bead was almost impossible to break which concerned me about what would/could happen on the road. ie would I be fooked
I'm asking from an "in the field" perspective not with your fancy schmancy tyre fitting set up at you have at home.

Not a problem, break the bead with a sidestand.
It's called fancy schmancy technique.

The E07 carcass can't be as thick walled as the E09 then. Using the side technique bore me no fruit with E09
