Thanks so much for sharing the ride report. Fantastic!

I will also ask if you are interested in submitting any reports for publication in a new motorcycle magazine. It is a publication for riders and BY RIDERS. Here is a little more information:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230303

It might put a few extra bucks in your pocket for your effort.

Proverbial Chinese used motorcycle dealer.

You need one of these. A talking Chinese/English translator. $89.95 online, but over there they may be cheaper.

It might help you out communicating better and being less of a target.

Best of Luck! Hope your new bike is a better fit for ya, you looked 7 feet tall on your old one.

OK- I was hoping to pull this up this morning and find that you had found a TTR250 with Chinese plates and the sun is shining and you've got your kit on it and are on the road again on a bike without all of that 'residual swarf' in the motor. Buena suerta amigo.

Hi Robert,

The JH600 is made by Jialing in Chongking. It cost RMB29800 for Asia spec and RMB30800 for Euro spec (longer suspension) I am thinking of buying a Euro spec after my test ride end of May. If you are in Chengdu, you are better off going to Mianyang, the only Jialing JH600 dealer outside of Chongking. I believe it is a good bike with engine from AVL design, Showa shock, Simons instruments, and Bosh fuel injection! You will make it to Lahsa with ease on this baby. Have your Chinese speaking friend to help you buy this bike. The GM of the dealer in Mianyang is called Mr. Xu Mun, cell phone 13909016007. He knows me by the name of Yang Wai. I think he has a JH600 Euro spec. in stock. Good luck. If you come to HK or need any help, give me a call +852-23386337. I think I know Ian and also David FL in Chiangmai.

Cheers,

Franki Yang

Or you can buy one of this model which is very popular among the tibetian farmers. Pic taken at Tibetian savana about +5000m/asl. Borrowed from a local farmer.....I was on a XL1000V that day.

That's a stylin' ride. I'm surprised you didn't trade him straight across. That's spiritual chrome, ain't it?

Roberto,
You're doing a fine job and it's a pleasure watching you evolve. Do not give up under any circumstance. Keep thinking positive and you will prevail.

To avert altitude sickness, Himalayan Sherpa taught me, climb to sixteen thousand feet, sleep at fourteen. Take your time to acclimatize properly, Lhasa is way up there. If you feel lightheaded, stop and deep breath slowly--don't risk blacking out when riding--been there, done that.

There's a lot of positive energy coming your way from all of us in advrider-land. Persevere.
