BMW F650 Dakar spotted in Lincoln Tunnel

A leo pulled you over outside the tunnel on the NYC side, anyone from this group? Why did you get pulled over? Just curious.

Busted!

i always pop into the HOV lane and scream on through. saw a big gap after the bus, made my move. should have looked harder. a bus was holding up to let a transit cop out. i have about 8 PBA cards. i needed all of them. he was pissed.

let me go though.

I was on one of those buses. That sucks, I see cars and those f*cking dollar vans pull into that lane all the time and nobody bothers them.

BTW, the bike looks great!!!!

happened to me, too. interstingly, motorcycles are not allowed to ride in bus lane in the morning, but in the evening all traffic is merged (battery tunnel). the officer writting me a ticket said, it was for motorcyclists' safety. well, it looks like safety is a function of time of a day.
on the other hand, i commute in hov lane daily (bqe on my way to the tunnel) with no problems whatsoever. all i have to do is crossing pillard line before or after toll booths. and i am usually directed by tunnel officers. funny because iirc, motorcycles are excludes from hov regulations:

"Prior to the Clean Pass program, the 40-mile HOV lanes were reserved for use by vehicles with two or more occupants, buses and motorcycles during peak travel hours – weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. At any other time, the LIE/HOV lanes are open to all traffic."

https://www.nysdot.gov/portal/page/portal/news/press-releases/2006/200615

can somebody help me with interpretation? is this actually a written law that bans motorcycles from riding in a bus lane?

on dot website, i found such a hilarious sentence, though:

"There are no exemptions for motorcycles in an HOV lane. Motorcycle riders must obey the same rules as other motorists and have the required number of passengers."

http://home2.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/advisories/trafalrt.html

i am at work and don't have much time for a research nor a carefull read. am i missing something here?

My LT LEO experience

This winter, on the way home from a ride with LDF, I jumped the median to get in the right hand lane to head south coming out of the LT on the Manhattan side and got pulled over. The first words out of the cops mouth were,

"What? ...do you think this is some kind of adventure???"

I shit you not. It was all I could do not to laugh. I wanted to say, "Well, yes, officer, as a matter of fact, I do!" But I bit my tongue, and shut up. I have perpetrated so many moving violations in my life (mostly on a bicycle) and not been caught, at this point I just figure I'm due. My approach is not to bitch, not to moan, not to complain or whine, just get written up and be on my way. The guy asked me where I was going, told me not to do it again, and to get out of there. No ticket.
