When I asked RV directly in regards to the availability of the tanks.

Hi Ben,

Thank you for your enquiry, we have a front tank that is 12 to 14 litres and
a rear tank that is about 8 litres. As soon as the tanks have been tested
and the fittings all finalized they will be available. If everything goes to
plan this should be some time in September. Feel free to contact us again in
a month or so or keep an eye on our website for details.

Regards,
Nicole

Nicole,

Thanks for the quick response. Only reason I have resorted to contacting you directly is because www.justgastanks.com has been saying they would have it in stock for some time now but they keep moving up the date. Would you have any pictures of mountings for these new tanks? I am currently building a Rallye Ready G450X and I am very limited to tank options currently. There is only one other company producing rallye tanks and am curious to how yours compare.

Hi Ben,

Because the tanks have not gone into production Just Gas Tanks do not have all of the fitting details yet. The front tank clamps to the frame and has 2 mounting points on each side making them very robust. The rear tank attaches to 2 back upper mounts and the lower mount attaches to the sub frame.

Regards,
Nicole

Replacement for stock tail light?

I picked up my 450X last Sat from MAX BMW. What is recommended replacement for the stock taillight?

Does anyone know if this Acerbis will work?

What's the best solution? The stock one has got to go....

Thanks

I got lucky and the early ones were shipped with the Euro tailight in the container. I begged my dealer to let me have it. I was lucky, apparently right after I got mine, BMW NA notified all the dealers that the taillights were in no way supposed to end up in constomers hands and were supposed to be returned. Bobby from Atlanta BMW probable knows more.

I don't see why that one wouldn't work. Baja Designs has a really nice and bright one, if you want a light that's actually going to be bright enough for traffic to see. If you just want a light to pass your DMV check, those cheap Acerbis ones work. I have no experience with that particulr model, but I've used their other ones in the past and they were very dim.

Why not just order the Euro taillight from BMW? That is what the KTM 690E crowd is doing. It is much smaller, however it has no tag light on the KTM anyway.

Already thought of that....

BigBore: I have looked into ordering it from Canada. I have not looked into ordering it from BMW Germany. My understanding is that BMW Germany will not ship it to the US, not sure about Canada (yet). Also, the price tag is C$185 with shipping.

There is a generic alternative that may be acceptable (see here), and then I'll have to figure out the electrical connections....

Just cut the plug off the BMW harness and solder and heat shrink that taillight to the BMW plug. Then it will plug right into the stock harness.

What are you smoking Brommer?
How can this possibly be?
Next you will be telling me that the next 4 stroke bike is in 7th place!!
Those BMW's are total SHIT and POO aren't they? Totally unridable and unreliable with shit suspension and an engine and radiator that hangs out the front just begging to get smashed?
By what fluke of nature can this motorcycle be leading the craziest toughest enduro in the world?
That guy must be incredibly lucky, just like the guys that got 2nd and
3rd at Etzberg on the G450X.

Ha... I bet if you have a real close look at one of those BMW's, you will see that they are just a 2t KTM with BMW stickers on it!!

Bloody Germans.... must be cheat'in somehow. How the hell can anyone beat Cyril Depres!!!

Straight from the KTM website. They can't even say what bike won.

Romaniacs Day 4: Kiwi Chris Birch finishes second ahead of Cyril Despres
German Andreas Lettenbichler wins Red Bull Romaniacs Rallye 2009, second comes Kiwi Chris Birch (KTM) ahead of fellow KTM Rider Cyril Despres from Andorra.

What a showdown in Sibiu, central Romania: The last of four Offroad Stages once again demands a 110% from everybody in the remaining field, with the strongest end at Andreas Lettenbichler. On the second place comes a still very satisfied Chris Birch (KTM), ahead of Andorran three times Red Bull Romaniacs winner Cyril Despres (KTM). This last stage caused a true eruption within the pro-field!
