It does say a lot for the gearbox though, not destroying itself with the road abuse and no cush drive on the bike.
Maybe he can list his service log. I'd like to see it.

I am wondering if the forks fit the series 1 tripple clamps or if they need replacing too?

Does anyone have series 2 forks for sale at a reasonable price?

Maybe I should just have the Marzochi's worked on by a pro?
I had my 09' forks worked on by Fast Bike Industries, new valves and springs and tuned for my weight and riding. They work great, cost appx $450.

So with my no charging problem the bike went to the dealer (nice guys)

Good news: Stator and wiring harness for broken tps sensor covered under warranty.

Bad news, parts coming from germany so no riding until after the new year.

Oh and it needs a clutch. All at 3600 miles and 112 hours!

How many Pistons and valves did the 30k mile Commuter guy go through? Even in parts thats major dough.

Yeah!

btw. Crank shaft was done under warranty for PO 600 miles ago.

Really Bad news: Compression check = 70 and there is blow by on the valves.

So new top end (piston and valves) to the tune of 1400 bucks.

I can't imagine a dealer replacing the crank and not advising for at least new rings and/or piston but I guess it could happen. At 100 hours my exhaust valves were fairly coned into the cylinder head. I'm coming up on the second 100 hours and probably do a tear down next summer as I'm riding it a lot less lately with all the offroad racing on my Husky. I would advise seeing exactly what was replaced during the crank replacement.

That G450 sure is impressive. Son hadn't touched it for two months, just left it in the garage and yesterday he was over and decided to take it out for a quick ride. Temperature was -10 overnight, -5C by the time he got to it, tons of snow on the ground, but the bike fired right up as if it was already warmed up!

My DR650 never starts that easily even when it's warm out.

Those of you with power commanders. Did your mileage improve any? I'm having to leave it in low power on some of the longer rides to avoid pushing it. I'm loosing about 20 miles of range in high power mode, and hoping to get at least some of that back. From what I've read, the bike is running rich in high power mode.

Two words - fuel injection. Best thing ever.

Merry Christmas

You might want to touch base with Bert Duursma (bert@bertduursma.nl), he can supply the 29ltr tank and exhaust, which would be a good starting point. Bert is the OEM for those tanks, which is the same one Speedbrain were selling.
