Looking for help. Advice.
My 2009 had a charging issue and was dropped an independent dealer 3 months ago for repair. Bike is still under warranty and has around 120 hours on it. I asked them to look over the bike, check a few things and give it a once over (it was new to me, bought from a fellow inmate). They said it had a bad stator which would be covered under warranty. They said the clutch adjustment was maxed so I asked them to measure the plates and they were a little under spec so I said do the clutch. (not warrantied) they said they checked comp (75%) or thereabouts as I remember and there was some blow by in the valves. They asked if I wanted to rebuild the top end. Not under warranty. I said the bike runs fine (other than the charging) and the loss of power didn't bother me. Don't rebuild it. a month goes buy no word, so i call... they say they cant get it to charge with the new stator. Replacing the whole harness, will take a while. call again, replaced the whole wiring harness, stator and bike wont start, we will call you back finally they call and say bike wont start. they retested compression and its basically ZERO. Blow by is 100% they want me to do the full rebuild on my dime or come get the bike. I dropped off a bike that ran fine but drained batteries. They want me to pay for a rebuild on a motor that was running when I dropped it off. BMW NA has not been any help. They offered to get cash for time the bike has been down. But nothing else they can do. What do I do? ![]() The same dealer also did a cam on the bike under warranty 600 miles ago and the last full service.

If you have a friend who is a lawyer get them to send the dealer a letter.

I really hate to say, but kiwi is right. It sounds like you need a lawyer. You might also check the lemon laws in your state to see if they apply also. Finally, the clutch replacement was covered for me when I took it in, though I suspect it was done instead of the torque limiter, which is probably the real problem.
On another note, anyone have a set of forks to sell?

I get a strong smell of fuel on mine, but only at the start of the ride. After a short while, the smell goes away. The breather connects to the tank just behind the filler and comes out in front of the radiator. So you can probably smell it more than you would on other bikes which have breathers either on the cap itself or ends below the frame. You could put on a Safari tank, which feed the main tank through the breather, then only half fill the safari tank. I've never noticed the fuel smell when I had either of those tanks on (I have both the front and rear tanks). These tanks have the breather through the cap. If, on the other hand, you are seeing lots of fuel literally spraying out from your bike, then I suggest you take it to a mechanic, as there is something definitely wrong here.

FWIW. Mine only leaks or smells after a tip over.

We put the clear fuel tank on ours, the son having been fooled by the fuel gauge a few times, and running right out.

Hi,
I want to change the original Marzocchi Shiver 45 fork into a Marzocchi Shiver 50 with Ohlins Cartridge System. Does anyone know if the axle is the same on these two forks? And does the brake fit both forks? Many thanks Bye Muecke |
