Day ride in the N Cascades

AdvRider is a prolific place for ride requests.
I recruited
BTM
88NX250
Furndog
Sam- Sorry, Sam, your handle escapes me
and myself. I was an easy catch.
We set off for the east side of the mountains, where the report was for 70F temps for the day. Sunshine is the norm there, unlike spring on the wet side...
We didn't have breakfast together, so no pics.
Got together at the local *good* M/C shop, and didn't take a pic there.
There's some coming! Hang in there!
I got all excited leaving the driveway, and thought I'd pop a wheelie. I love wheelies! Honked on it, and spun up the Scorp.... then it hooked up! 'Bout yanked the bars right out of my hands! I haven't had THAT happen before! The pavement was damp, so it was tricky traction.

Got all our "ducks in a row" and away we went!

No pics

Til the top. Here we are at Rainy Pass, only it's not rainy.

That is BTM on the XT, and 88NX250 on the oldwing.
BTM stayed right on my tail the whole way up the pass. It may be small, but it's got gumption!

So pretty quick here came Furndog and Sam.

Replete with AdvRider salute, we defy the temps (it really wasn't THAT cold) and make for Washington Pass. I figure the snow will be deeper there, and we want maximum photo effect, right?

Well, maybe not. There's only a little parking carved out, and I bagged the idea when it seemed more trouble than it was worth.
And down the hill we went to Winthrop.
I was kinda cautious coming over, as it is possible for there to be ice in unexpected places. I got hurt pretty bad that way in 2004. I don't want a repeat.
But there was no ice.

Down the mountain we wnet to Threee-fingered Jack's in Winthrop. My parking space was reserved

Had a good burger and shared some stories. BTM and 88NX250 decided to make the loop and go back via Hwy 2.
Hopefully they will post a pic or 2
We went back the way we came, but for a side trip on the Goat Creek road, where I found some sand at the turnoff, and got it sideways slowing down....
Note to self- don't count on the springtime roads...

And back up the mountain we went. The parking at the top was a little better....

And we rolled on down the hill.
Visions of summertime traffic on the pass return as long lines of folks look and slow....
sometimes referred to as pylons.
The views are always good, but sometimes REALLY good....

And so went another Saturday ride. The weather is melting the snow in the hills, and we will get off-road soon enough. Meantime some twisty pavement satisfies the 2-wheeled jones!
