Lean back a little and give it the gas. It helps to prevent going over the handlebars if the front end hits a rock, root, or rut.

That's the fun way, anyway...for everybody on the ride.



Most just gear down, pull in the clutch, and use the brakes, like they're a fat guy on a mtn bike.



200lb+ on a 400lb DS means a LOT of braking...so I've heard.


On short, steep downhills, you CAN lean back and gas it a bit though. Roll it solely on the back wheel. Some people can even lean forward and brake instead, to roll it on just the front wheel, but that's usually on lightweight bikes with decent traction. Soft, crumbly terrain doesn't usually offer that kind of traction.

i would highly caution you about such a big bike for those conditions.

DRZ400 is a large as i would go, maybe a dr650 or XR, with good knobbies.

I should be able to do a ride sat or sun if any is going on one .... also one of the fun parts of riding hernando is that a few spots are the only way back up the hill is the way you just came down !!!! sweet....

Dang it !! Doing the DDS Gobbler ride in Bartow on Sat. Sunday, wife is doing a half marathon and I'm going to need to hang around for moral support...
