Sorry I can't help but you could also try posting here.

adv advice

Hello,
I'll be in Dublin and then Cork at the end of this week. I'll have a little spare time and am wondering about renting a bike to do a little touring. Can anyone give me some advice on where I could/should rent in either city and where I should take the bike? I'm woefully ill-prepared. Will it even be warm enough?
Thanks for any help,
Dan

sammy-g, Thanks for the response! I met Noel several years ago in a Dingle pub. I was on my first real adventure, sadly not on a bike, but he showed me the ways of the motorcycle brotherhood none the less. Lost his address in transit back to the states and always wanted to thank him for showin' me such a good time .

Cheers!

Hi folks. Just came across this too and would love to see a bit more life on the "Ireland" front.

Always game for a spin if anyone is interested.

If the weather's any good on May 2nd through the 4th, I'd love to tour the peninsulas. I also have to find a rental. I've narrowed down my plans and I'll be in Cork.

hi dan, i presume you're talking about the west cork peninsulas - if that's the case you will enjoy. i'll be taking the bike to mayo this weekend myself for a family event - hope it doesn't rain too much.

will you be over the east side before you go back?

Dan, I forgot to say earlier that there is a good guy (Richie on the UKGSer site) in Allihies on the Beara peninsula - he has a website www.motomunster.com - and does tours, etc in the Cork/Kerry area. His mobile is on that site - might be worth giving him a shout.

Thanks a lot for the advice. It looks like I'm not going to get my ride in. Just too hard to arrange on short notice. I'll have to come back to Ireland for a proper tour. The roads look like a lot of fun. I've settled on a really really small rental car instead of a bike. ...maybe with the windows open? I'm in Cork for a few days for work and then up to Dublin. Back to Canada on the 11th. A bit of a whirlwind.

Hi Glenboy, Doing the Irish Photographic rally and will be camping for a weekend in Wicklow or Carlow area sometime in the next month or two. Would be up for a spin out when I'm down that way if it suits.
