Rear Shock Spring.
How easy is it to change out the spring as a DIY job? I need to upgrade it and my fork springs this winter.

Maybe someone can help me out and point me in the right direction here, a bit confused, jetting issue.
So the PO told me the bike was rejetted with the FMF power up kit, he gave me the kit when i bought the bike, this whole time i was assuming that the bike had a BIGGER jet put in, but when i looked inside the FMF power up kit, there is the STOCK 142.5 main jet in there (you can tell its the stocker, does not look new), then there is a 132 and a 136 main jet in there, both new, which makes me believe that the main jet that is in there now is a #140?? Im confused, i thought the whole purpose of a POWER UP kit is to put in BIGGER JETS?? so why would they sell a power up, where the 3 main jets given in the kit are SMALLER then the stock main jet (142.5)? makes no sense to me. there is no pilot jets in there, and i do see a used jet needle in there, which makes me believe there is a new FMF needle in there with the multiple groves, unlike the stocker that has only one grove, and that is a good thing. My question is this, i have the 3X3 mod done, and my stock exhaust has been fully un-restricted, and i do plan on getting a AFTERMARKET exhaust one of these days, so what should my jetting be? My elevation is 1,350 -1,500 feet, by bike obviously needs bigger jets put it, so what should my jetting be? and is there a place i can buy the jets only, cant really drop $70+ dollars right now on a jet kit, i tried doing a search and theres a whole lot of different things out there, but seen that some use the 25 pilot and the 150 main jets, does that sound about right for my set up. thanks in advance.

With the new needle you also get the ability to raise the needle (by putting the clip in the next lower groove) which will increase the fuel flow if you're not satisfied with you're MID RANGE power. AND you can do this without taking the carb out, just rotate it to take the cap off. If you're happy with the mid range and you think it still need some more go at MAX THROTTLE then a larger jet might be required. So hold onto that larger jet. Ron W. .

If the bike is running fine as is I would leave it alone until you replace the exhaust. I recommend you pick up a James Dean Jetting jet kit when you do because it sounds like the kit you have won't have the right size jets. The FMF jet kit is a rebadged Dynojet kit, and based on the jets you listed it is a Stage 1 kit which is for a stock bike, not a bike with the 3x3 mod and exhaust. The James Dean kit will have everything you need.

Once the shock is out and the pre-load adjusters are cracked no tools are required. Take some photos before taking all of the tension off the spring and work carefully and methodically. There is a wire clip under the spring seat and these must be put back together correctly.

I can't help you there because I didn't use the Dynojet needle but basically you want to find out what people using the Dynojet Stage II kit used.

Thanks, i pulled out the carb, and it had the stock 22.5 pilot in there with a 134 main, and the adjustable needle with the clip in the 4th position, so now its got the 22.5 pilot with 3 turns out on the fuel screw, i put the 142.5 main jet back in, and left the needle in the 4th clip position, seems to run very well now.
thanks guys, btw, removing the carb was actually pretty easy on this bike, i just pressed the air box tube and had enough space to remove and install.

Just wanted to post two pictures of my DRZ. I recently went on a trip to Redwood National Park with my wife and daughter. They took the BMW F800GS w/sidecar (posted on advrider) and I rode the DRZ. It was great riding and camping. Planning on more trips.
