Steering stabilizer ?

I am thinking about getting a stabilizer. I have been reading up on this but I am ending up more confused. I am running a 2" Rok Riser with 7/8" bars. My bike is an 08 iff thatt makes a difference. What would be the best option for my bike?
Thanks............John

Check out BRP moto. They make awesome kits, but I would suggest a sub mount like this:

http://www.brpmoto.com/products?page...tegory_id=1874

I have the same setup on my XR650R and its been great. You'll have to ditch the Rox risers but the sub mount will raise them back up to close to where they were.

Another vote for a sub mount set up. I have an over the bars on my drz and a submount on my WR and like the submount more.

I know I know but when the ice is in and the snow is down, out come the snowboard and kites

When your ripping on a board (water or snow) its as good as the DR in a different kinda way, so till my legs give up on me I can put up with the two off season periods and at least I get to do some maintenance on my gear

Drz400s

I have an '08 DR650SE and an '08 WR250R. Thinking about something between these two. Lighter and more dirt worthy then the DR, a little more power then the WR without FI for self servicing in the middle of no-where.

One thing I've always heard about the DRZ400 is it gets wound out on the highway not having a 6th gear. Is this as big a deal as some would have you believe?

Anyone out there have a comparison with my WR250R or DR650SE as far as an "all around" adventure bike?

Thank you,

Greg

Yes it does get buzzy at highway speeds... enough that there are two wide ratio gearboxes on the market for the DR-Z. Stock is fine if you don't need mountain goat gearing and you're willing to keep it to about 70.

A search will reveal a hundred comparison threads...

I just sold my WR250R that I had for 4 years. It was a good bike but it was too small for me and it llacked enough grunt.
It was betterr than the DRZ on sand and easier on single track. Thee WR also has a 6th gear where the DRZ doesn't..
I never had a problem with the WR.

I used to have an X Challenge 650 which was quite long legged for the highway. Bought a DRZ E and stock gearing was very buzzy, wouldn't take it over 90kph for extended periods. Geared it up to 14/44 and now felt like I could cruise at 95-100. Geared it up to 15/44 and I'm now happy. 90-100 is relaxed and 100-110 is still fine. The thing to remember is the DRZs are a high revving bike, so "cruising" speeds can be at higher rpm then DRs. I have taken my bike into soft sand dunes and that gearing was still fine. Really snotty technical hills would probably make this gearing feel a bit tall. I would prefer 14/44 then, but I would never go back to 14/47.
I'm now very happy with the versatility of my DRZ. A new seat is the biggest issue I want to deal with.
That's just my personal opinion for Western Australian conditions. If you want to do lots of mountainous single track PLUS extended slab, then maybe a WR or TE610 is a better option

You can also get the SUB mount directly from Scotts, but only as a complete kit (stabilizer, SUB mount, top clamp, bolt-on post), so it's a bit pricey: http://www.scottsperformance.com/Sta...&Size=400&Fred= street&BI_ID=20683

Of course, only for the kicker, E and S models with conventional forks.

If I was looking for an all round bike I would look at the X Challenge or the Husky 610 or 630. The 610 is the only one of the three with a carb.
