Well I did get a stock 05 with 6500 miles for 2.3k. My first dirt bike. I've probably spent that much getting it ready, and set-up for some serious adventure this summer. New jackpiner57 custom rack, new Wolfman Expedition saddle bags and frame, new Clarke 4.0 gal tank, new Yamaha petcock, new DID X-ring chain, new chain rollers, new chain swingarm guide, new hand protectors, new shorty hand levers, new MSR long shift lever, new Galfer brake lines, new clutch, RT rebuilt resprung revalved shock, new tires, new spare tubes, assorted bike specific tools, new trailside jack stand, new JD jetting and 3x3 air box mod, new sleeping bag, new sleeping pad, new jet-boil stove, new water filter, new Pelican box, soon to get new Wolfman Enduro pocket tank bag, soon to get a couple of GL waterproof bags, soon to get a flood light. And a weekend lesson. Cheaper than therapy. Maybe I should have bought a jeep. Nearly all of that extra expense could be removed and transferred to another DRZ or perhaps another dirt bike for that matter. No hot cams, no CRF carb. I think you should shoot for a 05 or newer just because that was the last year that any change of any kind, electrical or otherwise was made as far as I can tell. Get a Childers manual now and look over the specs to know the differences. Most notably the suspension which was upgraded in 02 and been the same since I think. The motors haven't changed at all since '00. Get an S or plated E "electric start". SM if only using on street.
Oh! and the blue ones are fast but the yellow ones look better and go just as fast.
I know this is preaching to the choir but for low money this is one hell of a motorcycle. I thinking about getting another for the many miles of canyon carving roads I live around.

Love the picture and the reflection of the forks in the water., did you get a copy of the original size image. Would be nicer with a wider aspect ratio I'm thinking

Here is my semi finished "rally" mod. The secnd light has been added some clean up is necesary and the final layer of carbon Kevlar needs to go on. Not for racing just for mucking about.

Sick!^

I really wish they'd make a decent production run of a fairing similar to that, I know I'd buy it.

Closing some dealers. Doubt it means much to most of us.

I don't understand how they could be loosing money!?!?!? I see GSXRs, DR/DRZs, Stroms all over. Oh....maybe the dumb cruiser market. Is this all about the car division problems?

Sent from my fat thumbs on a small touch screen.

That photo was one in a sequence of 16.

I ended up with close to 100 pics from this photographer, all of them in 3 different sizings: The largest is 3.23mb, 3937x5906. I used 'facebook' size on ADV.

My avatar is one of his pics.

They actually started this 5 months ago.

I don't see where there's anything to really be concerned about. It's not a chapter 7 bankruptcy. They are not going out of business in the US. They are getting rid of non-performing dealers(10% of 800 dealers) and dumping the car division.
