New DRZ GUY

Just bought an 09 with 4000mi. In really nice shape. Plan on using it
Mainly for 2 lane commuting and as a get around at the races. I will playbike ride it some, seems like a nice bike. I'm 58 and a bike nut, all my life.
BMW, Yamaha wrench in the 80's, love to ride different bikes, sold a KLR,
and a 1200s bandit for this one. I ride a lot of dirt, a WR125/144 and a blast,
And a 2012 TE511 that is modded a little, so needed something to drive daily.
Never had one of these so I'll sit back and listen to the more experienced.
Hello to all!

What kind of temperature tolerance should I be looking for when trying to find heat-resistant hose to make a muffler protector like yours? I mostly want mine to make sure my dirtbagz stay off it and don't catch on fire like my last set...

Will the FCR MX fuel screw- specifically R&D flex jet fit my E model FCR? I'm finding conflicting info, are they the same or a diff. Part #?

I've got an E (slant) FCR on my bike along with the R&D flex. I don't know the p/n, but Eddie at Epic said the R&D would work with an FCRMX as well.

Eddie? Him and his partner are world class idiots, they know a little about nothing and play off like theyre experts. If you want bad advice, wrong parts and damaged parts passed off as brand new, then there exactly who you want to talk to. If you want home made crap and poor specs talk to epic, they make tons of cash scamming TT members and if you call them on their scams they get idignant and blow you off.
how dare you demand parts that were shipped two weeks ago, stop calling were too busy to deal with you, yeah we have your money, yeah we said wed call you back 15 times, no we dont know where your stuff is, even though we told you yesterday it shipped 3 days ago...

Thanks man. I went ahead and ordered a few feet of the red which should match the bike a little better. By the way, did you coat your header wrap? I would recommend it. I wrapped the headers on my old bike and didn't spray em down with the sealer and they fell apart pretty quickly.

Thanks again for the help.

Plastic fork clamp

I've searched the online micro fisch for the right hand side plastic clamp for my DRZ400S and I can't find it listed. There is a picture of it on the fork leg but not separate listing. Anyone have an idea where it is in the fisch? thanks

I'd call Kevin at epic motorsports in Frederick, he's a drz nut and either has a spare or knows where to get it

Sent from my phone (if you care)

Coat the header wrap with what?

That is the first ive heard of coating it, i just simply wrapped it on and put the stainless clamps on the ends.

You can find it at Autozone. A little pricey but supposedly worth it. And after my wrap fell apart I plan on doing it next time. Also I think it keeps the fibers from sticking out of the wrap as much and getting stuck in everything. Shit makes me itchy.

Dead spot from idle

Hi folks,

Got myself a 2011 DRZ 400e Aussie spec a few weeks back, and I'm loving it.

But I have found that there seems to be a substantial dead spot from idle when I crack the throttle - almost to the point of stalling the engine. From what I know, I believe the bike is std bar the yoshimura RS3 exhaust tip. It does not have the full header pipe. I have looked at the air box and the 4 inch rectangle snorkel is still attached. I have removed it and tried cracking the throttle and the same thing occurs, so I have put it back in place. I have also drained the fuel and replenished the tank with 98 octane BP ultimate thinking I may have had a dirty batch.

If anyone has any advice or has had a similar situation, I'm all ears !

Thx in advance

Cheers :)

Dead spot from idle?

How many miles on the bike and has it been sitting up?

How does it idle?

Some easy items is to check the spark plug and clean the carb. Also adjust/check you fuel screw settings.
