This one now...my real dirt bike with a plate is a TE511.
My KLR 650 will remain my distance, gravel road bike.
I have one bike now with the Dunlop 607 and it is a thrill a minute on the paved canyons. grin.
The KLX250 and the DRZ400 is just right for the niche I was missing.

TE511. hmm.
It is available ~2 miles from my front door...is that a good thing?

Personally, unless you have to do 400km day in and day out, I would invest in a 5L fuel can for $10 or a roto-pax for $100 on the days you do need that extra range.

300km will get you to the next fuel station just about everywhere in North America with the exception of the Dalton and Dempster "highways" where you will need 400km.

Thanks for the feedback. So you reckon 400km on a tank is over kill?

Moab gearing

If I had to choose today I would likely go 48 since I'm pretty sure that will work with my 112L chain and still allow road somewhat comfortably.
I ran 13/46 around the White Rim recently. Was perfect. On the road though it was straining at 55 mph. I'm thinking of going with 14/49 so I don't have to worry as much about eating through the swingarm protector. Although there might be something to keeping a 15 for long runs down the road and switching it out with the 13. I understand some people do this.

need new headlight

Need to get a new headlight for my plated 2000 drz400e.The headlight that is on it now is total crap for night use. Was thinking of getting the baja designs headlight.http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDe...umber=601098WT
Anyone use this. Just wondering a couple things about it.

1: How is the light from it.
2: What type of bulb does it use.
3: Can the headlight aiming be adjusted.

So what reputation does the dealer have
If its good then do you have any warranty with the purchase if yes then its got to be less of a gamble and you can do your own mods as time goes by.
Yes its got more miles but may not have been driven hard (yet), see if you can get it for less that would be even better

Bought a Clarke tank and will be installing this weekend.

Any last minute pro-tips?

Might have to make the holes in your radiator shrouds a little bigger to fit the screws in.

If you have an FCR you might consider getting the shorter choke knob. I tried several times to modify the stock one myself but nothing I did worked so I got the short one, installs fast and works fine.

If you have a kick starter you may have to grind a very small amount off the top. I didn't but it just barely fits without rubbing.

I asked about taking less but not interested. They have a year warranty on this bike, but I still have to ask for the small print. So Yes I think I will go for this one.

I would have liked the E model but I need the passenger foot pegs and the heavy duty subframe....to carry the wife.

Clean the tank real well (it definitely make a difference).
-Make sure air flows smoothly through the petcock screen.
- Test the petcock (for gas flow & leak) before installing it on the bike. Pour 1/4 gallon let it sit for 4-5 minutes to check it for leak, then turn petcock on to see if the flow is normal.
-Install it on ur machine and go ride it like u stole it.

If he's willing to work on the price a little that would be a plus.
