Two questions:

Does anybody have a trick for getting the OEM crush washers off? I don't think I over tightened them (it's like 18 for the drain and 13 for the fram if I remember correctly), but I'm on my third oil change and they've been stuck under the threads every time, I have had to use dykes on them, and one I had to use a hack saw (very carefully!)

What size is the nut on the oil hose to access the oil screen in the frame?

Thanks.

re legal E, I have the tiny rear tail/brake light many have, I'm going to go to a stock S ( they mount diff' due to diff sub frame) or a KLX250 might work. I was almost hit , wasnt from the rear ( moron turning left into me , I was doing speed limit @ 50 on rural road) but made me think I want a bigger light in back , if it gets knocked off occasionally BFD, might save my butt from getting run over at a stop light. I'll be mounting turn signals, I'll see if I can get them as led running lights.

anyone want to trade a stock set up for the tiny under mount style lemme know.

I just try to raise them with a knife or something then screw them off. If you are using a torque wrench to tighten then it's more than likely not accurate. All it needs is a snug.

Just did mine, raise them with a thin flat screwdriver past the first thread then you can unscrew them but first put the head of the plug in a vice (with protectors on the jaws) and the job is easy.

What did you wind up buying to fix yours? Chain and guides? Guess that's what I need to do...
my guides were very good, barely noticable wear.

just replaced the chain, cut off the auto decomp mechanism, and crossed my fingers for the first press of the button.

it starts instantly with a new chain. I haven't had to adjust the manual tensioner yet either.

the cam timing was off by almost a tooths worth (of rotation) from stretch on the old chain, now its perfect.

Looks like you're going all out George. I'd never heard of Spencer's LD Magic before, but I'm going to look into that very soon.

Spencer takes stock foam and reshapes/adds/subtracts.
Plus he has an optional (LD - long distance) Supracore top layer he can use.
He then puts your cover back on.
Not sure why George added Supracore when a new Seat Concepts foam was used? http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php

All the comfort I can get.

Seat concepts uses a standard expanded foam pad, similar to any OEM seat. Spencer's Supracore just add that little extra. And (relatively) cheap too. I spent more on postage than for Spencer's mod.

woof -- didn't know it was that expensive. Just dropped about the same amount on the led's. :(

May just buy a new battery.

BTW - I do NOT suggest putting in those little lithium batteries... they have huge suck-o-rama ratings from myself.

BTW - dunno if it's okay to post this here or not so lemmie know...

Started working on a lil get together for the DRZ's in East TN and those coming to the area. Started it on supermotojunkies.com so here's the post there and the link...

Wednesday, September 18th

let's do a couple of meetups - that way if somebody can only get there earlier they can still enjoy the show and same for those who arrive later.

Group 1 - KSU from DGMR @ 10am - this will be a DG run ONLY. We have to meet group 2 back at the Resort.
Group 2 - KSU from DGMR @ 11am - Destination TBD by riders who arrive.

If you miss Group 1 - no sweat, we'll be back at DGMR in 30 minutes or so which puts you are your requested 10 to 11 meetup time.

Just in case... KSU = kick stands up, it's ride time.

Please be fueled up, batteries charged on GoPro's or whatever you use, and bladders emptied.

Couple of rules - RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE - if cops are there, it's every man woman and child for themselves

If anybody wants to change the above... let me know as this is JUST a place to start. If yall think it's too organized, we'll back it off. I just don't want folks to come out and everybody's already gone somewhere.
