Here's my 2000 DRZ400E with CA plate. The best money I've ever spent. Yosh pipe and jetted, Tonns skid plate, Scotts damper, SDG seat, Clarke 4.2 tank, MCCT, and I don't think it needs anything else. Well, maybe some rad guards when running the stock tank. Oh, and a kick starter just in case. OK, a GPS would be nice. And.... and... and.....

Well i just fitted the 44 tooth rear and now it goes the way it should do.
Open hiway sits a little revy at 100 kph i gather thats what about 60-65 mph?
But just went for a quick bush bash and its good to finally stretch the gears a little so all i need now is the Safari 17ltr tank and that should be about it i also cut the shitty rear fender on the back down a little and while i was there i hacked of the baffel sleve as well now it sounds better(not to loud as my dr650) but also breaths better.

Ps:Iwas also thinking of some nice blue rims

We ran 15/46 gearing for the safari. It does sound a bit busy at 100ks till you get used to it. I got to 156ks once and it was still climbing (slowly).
I cruised at 115-120 on the transport sections and ran at 130-140 on the fast competitive sections, which there was too many of. If you put earplugs in it doesn't sound that bad. That gearing is fine for all but the snottiest hillclimbs.

yeh i gather im just to used to the 650 thumping along and this thing feels like a little screamer but with the 15:44 i should be able to sit on 110 all day i gather hey?i also feel it actually pulls alot better when u can stretch the gears a bit more but yeh i still am paranoid hahahahaha onl coz im used to big bikes and this little whipper snapper is awsome in the dirt and anythign really just find it a bit nervous in the front end when coping some wind of trucks etc does the bigger tank sit more stable billy instead of the flaps on radiators?

also what soem quick cheap mods like pulling the rubber gromit of the air intake box? stuff like that just looking for ideas.

cheers jammer

If you're looking for cheap mods check out thumpertalk.com. Their DRZ forum is the biggest part of their site. Check out the stickys at the top for the list for the faqs. The 3x3 mod is for better breathing in the stock airbox.

Here's mine in Mass at Pittsfield Forest. Checking the rear spokes.

Cool stuff not visible:

- XR'sOnly oil temp gauge (dipstick) (because I need to know - 200F usually)
- Mini-LED voltmeter behind number plate
- Unibiker Rad guards

Same bike. Part of the "sharing" Kawasaki and Suzuki did in '03.

katana wheels?

Anyone know if a set of Katana wheels from 02 will fit an 01 DRZ? They are 17s, but I was wondering if they would require modification.

They are the same except for the plastics.

It is a DRZ - the steering tube info plate even says made by Suzuki.

What's nice is you can get parts at Kaw or Suzuki - price is sometime different for same exact parts.

Please note, however, that although that is RJP’s DRZ, it’s the Dirt Missile holding up the bike… and the Dirt Missile’s bike in the background… mine’s better
