Check the connection between the airbox boot and the carb. Make sure you can't pull it free.

PMR
Those are the screws that hold the chain guard on.

It runs fine, just did a 800km round trip this weekend, had to push it both mornings.

We have replaced the spark plug and the battery with no results.
We're going to start into the carby on the weekend, is there anything we should be looking for?

It is a 2009 E model with 5000km on the clock, bought second hand a week ago, it was running and starting fine for 3 days, and then the trouble started.

Any tips, hints, previous experience.
The stock valves are 2 piece "fused" units that are prone to failing on long hauls. The symptoms are the same as you are explaining and will show up if you check your valve clearances as the problematic valve or valves will be tight.

I replaced mine with Titanium one piece units from Epic Motorsports but the Wiseco stainless valves are proven durable as well for $100 bux a set. I would make a valve clearance check ASAP if I were you.

Another. Does anybody by chance know of another clutch perch assembly I can use that retains the DRZ clutch lever and doesnt have the clutch switch, and terrible looking mirror mount on it? I would like to retain the DRZ clutch lever if at all possible. I already have a brand new shorty clucth lever for the DRZ, but I guess I could swap the whole assy out if needed with a early 2000 RM unit if need be. Just trying to find one that retains the DRZ lever is preferred.

Where do these go? Ask a question (where do these go?) get no response!!
Make a guess, and everyone comes out of the woodwork to prove me wrong!!

At least he has ideas where to look now.
Upon further review, I agree with the guy above, the bolts go to the guard over the rear brake master cylinder.

Why is my Coolant overflow full?

My coolant overflow tank seems to be rather full.....is this indicative of a failing water pump? i checked the level at the cap, and it was low... i think the mechanical seal may be going, but it doesn't leak all that much, just enough to get it dusty....any clues? thanks people!

Stock valves fail? Ive heard of these top ends running many, many miles. The valves in my E model went 10 years and I replaced em just for drill when the top end got refreshed. Titanium valves in many MX bikes go 100 hours and then come out and are tossed.

I picked up a 2000 DRZ400E w/ dirt and sm set up. I have all sorts of pieces that came with it that I'm going to sell. Stock plastics (yellow/white), tank, exhaust/header. It came w/ a "legalizer" headlight as well. It has switches and signals and what not. First I've ever seen of them.
If anyone is looking for any stock bits shoot me a PM. I'll post up in the fleamarket w/ pics when I get a free second.
