Hepco Becker gobi enduro panniers
Is anyone using the Gobi Enduro Panniers? If so what are the + or - of them? I like the look, but don't know if they are very durable.

I have them on my '06 DL1000 - a regular one for a top case and a set of KTM OEMs for the side. I really like them. Just finished a tour to Northern California and Death Valley areas - solid and easy to pack. You won't be able to lane split however.

Like- locking features. Can lock to the bike and the top locks as well. They are durable. When my bike falls over, I want the gobis on there. They hold a fair amount of stuff. They're relatively waterproof. They can hold water in the plastic so you can carry drinking water and luggage. They were pretty expensive, but came with a free 950 Adv.
Cons- they are freaking heavy. I can't imagine hauling water in them with a full load of gear. For as heavy as they are, I would like to see more storage space. They are very wide. Again, for as heavy as they are, you still can't mount a Kolpin fuel cell bracket to them to carry extra fuel. Bonus- a 1.25 gallon kolpin tank fits perfectly in each side with room to spare (if you don't mind the aroma of gasoline about your belongings) Quote:

Unaweep,
When you say they are heavy, how are they compared to Aluminum bags?

Some one may know for sure, but I think they're about 10 pounds each. Up high that far back, you can feel it.

Added to My 640
I own both a KTM 950S and 640 Adventure. I did not really want to spend another $1000 for bags for the 640 even though it is the bike I plan on taking to Tierra del Fuego. Anyway I like the Gobi's and just mounted the SW Motech racks available thru Twisted Throttle onto my 640. Total cost was $220 since I already had the Gobi's from the 950.
I had Jesse's on my VStrom and the Gobis don't hold as much but they seem waterproof and very strong. Aluminum vs plastic, apples vs oranges. |
