Vermont Day Trip!

Well, the weather in Bean Town finally turned from blah to beautiful this past weekend.

I posted up that I was heading to Vermont and Johnbaker, another ADV Rider, mentioned riding with us. Cool, the more the merrier and I love meeting new people!!

This was going to be my first ride for ’07, and Vermont in my opinion is always a good ride destination.

Loaded up the bikes at 9:00.

My Daytona 675….

Boyfriends BRAND NEW Duke……

Headed South towards Acton to meet up with another buddy, Paul.

While waiting, I took a pix of these pretty flowers….

Paul arrived and we headed West on Route 119, then West on Route 9, where we met up with John and his extremely clean BMW GS.

Check out the luggage and very funny plate...

And check out that metal plate thingie!! I don’t know what it does, but I’m impressed!

Some pix of the meeting spot……

and..

From there we headed North on Route 100.

more tomorrow.......................

Vermont Day Trip!

From there we headed North on Route 100. Decided to stop for lunch and being true “Manly Men Biker Types” John ordered the

Venison Chili

and Mike ordered the heart attach special, Monte Christo…..

I ordered the salad and Paul ordered a turkey sandwich. Didn’t think they were worth taking pictures of for fearing being called names……

The boys after lunch…..

Moi after lunch...

Headed North to Route 155. Road was nothing special BUT worth riding because we headed West on to Route 140 which ROCKED!!!!

Road was nice and twisty, not many cars. We came upon a Turkey Vulture “snacking” on something dead in the middle of the road. I mention the flying beast because as it was flying away from the dead thing, it almost smacked me in the head with one of its wings! The bird was ENORMOUS!! Major huge wing span!

Vermont Day Trip!

Moving on from there we head south to Route 30. Stopped at a local gas station were we filled the bikes up with gas, got a beverage and just chilled for a bit.

It’s around 5:00 now and Paul mentions that he needs to call his wife because he doesn’t think he’ll be home in time for dinner!!

While relaxing, John noticed that Paul’s’ rear tire was a wee bit ah, “worn”!!

Paul’s tire…..

If you look closely, you can see the ah, METAL in the center of the tyre!

Vermont Day Trip!

Despite the worn tire and not wanting to head home because the weather was awesome, we decided to continue and I lead the group to the John Stark Monument. We said our goodbyes to John and headed South on Route 7A then traveled West on Route 67A, and took some pix of the monument and the scenery….

Monument.....

John Stark Statue....

Plaque in front of Statue...

And some local scenery........

one more....

After taking pix of the monument, enjoying the scenery and warm sun on our face, we headed back to Route 7A to Route 9 East and headed home.

Got back home at 9:00 p.m., tired but smiling!

Did 425 miles for the day, not bad for the first ride of the season!

John,

Good to finally see a pic of the Mules, bike looks great, looks like everyone else was a little short on carrying capacity you might want to start charging rental space .

Cheap Yankee I know, I grew up in maine.

Vermont is the best for day trips, had some serious fun on Rt 100 in my days, esp as you got further north.

The b/f LOVES the Duke, but he has a feeling his license is not going to last long!

not the same Paul......

(not Paul in the pic... that's the Michelin rep)...
but the tire is familiar.

we need to tune Paul into pre-ride checks
