Buddypal,
looks great, Sure wish i was blasting through those water hole next to you Smoken hole was classic. More bikes then last year, no rain, and chilly nights. The dirt ride was great but you were missed and talked about along the way. I got so drunk i even got up and played drums with the band. I'll regret that i'm sure. Anyway have a great trip, stay in touch, and ride hard. P.S. slab spent sat. night driving the porcelain bus

Sure was a pleasure havin you show up at the Tour de Tellico KLR Rally Nightstalker!
![]() Not just because you got such great photos of my wife and I crossin that stream either, because it was like havin a factory KTM demo rider present to show what the big 950 can really do! Never seen nothin like it, and I've roosted with a few! Man! Flyin around all those KLRs, spinnin around in the dirt road to come back through the stream again and again was truely impressive! I don't think I ever saw you put a foot down! ![]() We'd see a cloud of dust go by and poof, there you were takin our photos! I remember commenting, Dude!, you can ride the 950! You said, Ahh, it's just an easy bike to ride. ,,,,,Yea Right!!!! ![]() See Ya out there somewhere, Rod

Looks like a good time Terry, wish I could have joined in. The trials event was big fun too though, and there were some really talented riders competing. Wish we could have squeezed in another day.

Nightstalker,
Give me a holler when you'll be in Iowa. I'm in Cedar Rapids, but I'd most likely be up for a ride anywhere in Eastern Iowa. --JOsh |

Nightstalker in St. Louis
Hey everyone!! I'm in St. Louis right now. Leaving tomorrow for Davenport, IA, only for 2 nights though.
I've been internet disabled since leaving Smoky Mt's. But I did sneak some photo's up to my smugmug while sitting outside the public library. I won't be any one place for long until I hit Grand Marais, MN next Wednesday. If we get some rain, I'll have some indoor time to update the thread. Let me just add this about Land Between the Lakes...WOW! Awesome riding! Although, I thought I broke my foot about 1 hour into my 8 hour ride for the day. tz

Land Between the Lakes, KY - Preride
On the way into Kentucky, I stopped at the visitors center and picked up some info on the area we were going to be staying in. Much to my suprise, I found that the Land Between the Lakes, has an off road park in it, http://www.lbl.org/LBLTurkeyBayOHV04.pdf !! Looking further through the travel information I found that the Army Corps of Engineers has an OHV park in Linton, KY. My head was spinning. I never imagined that I'd have any choices for off road riding.
I had a little time on my hands, so I hopped on the bike and headed over to LBL to check out some dirt roads branching off the main road. WOW! I hit the jackpot! I found miles of great backroads to explore. ![]() Unfortunately, most of these roads deadended at the lakeshore. ![]() The major, graded roads were on my Topo loaded GPS.

Land Between the Lakes, KY - Preride
There were "roads" not on my GPS too.
![]() This road dumped me out on this powerline. ![]() Looking back. ![]() I went back and followed a different split. ![]() And just ended up on the same powerline again. ![]() I was running out of time, so I headed back to camp to come up with a strategy for a full day ride.

Land Between the Lakes, ALL DAY LONG
Let me just start by saying if I ever get back to the LBL area, I'm going to have to schedule in a full week of riding. LBL is a National Recreation Area, which is WAY more liberal with its land use policies than say a National Park is. Anyway... My plan was to head South to Linton, KY and check out a OHV area, and then to go into LBL from the TN end and check out some cemeteries. Cemeteries? Yes, there seems to be an abundance of small cemeteries everywhere in LBL, and many have roads not all too traveled.
I found this cemetery on the way to Linton, might as well start here with my count for the day. ![]() I found the ACoE boat ramp at Linton, and was suprised to find a sign that said NO ATV's. I was confused. What about the OHV area?? Well, I'll just continue south and see what pops up. I didn't have to go far to see the dirt road along the lake paralleling the main road, and boom, I was on it! ![]() The lake ![]() This turned into some great ATV trails. I must of found IT. ![]() And, some not so great ATV trails. You have to take the bad with the good. ![]() I screwed around for a while, but it was tight, and flat, and muddy, and hot, and I needed to get some air moving through my gear, so I worked my way back to the road using my GPS and found the official entrance.
