'05 R12RT fuel venting problem
The fuel tank is not venting properly, causing it to misshape as it heats up, getting in the way of the front left fork. It caused me a bit a scare yesterday when I found I could not turn to the left at a slow speed. When I discovered the problem, I removed the gas cap to hear the whoosh of air escaping, and to watch the tank pop back into shape. Happened again as soon as I rode for awhile more.
Anyone see or hear of this before? Any home fixes that would help? Mwolff |

I know the distortion/interference was discussed over on bmwrt.com some time back. I don't remember what the cure was. You might try the hexhead section there.

Several people have experienced this problem.
I had it happen on my 1200ST. The vent line is pinched under the tank. You need to remove some body panels and the tank...you'll see it pinched there. Just re-route it and all will be well.
