Why do some DR350 seats have a strap across them and others do not? What's the purpose or this strap?

The street legal models come with the strap, most people remove them. It's supposed to be a passenger grab strap or something like that.

Exactly. It's so your dude-friend doesn't have to put his arms around your waist when you give him a lift.

It might have been originally designed as a passenger grab strap but I don't think that you can realy use it as one. First off, you can barely get your fingers under there. With gloves on, in a grabbing situation, not at all. I think they are more luggage strap locations for when you need to strap on a duffle bag for a quick jaunt, or throw over saddle bags.

I mounted the tank slightly differently to the second link, I left the Acerbis XR tank mounts on the tank,
- the RH mount is from the top front engine mount to the horn mount and that connects to the tank mount
- the LH mount comes from the lower front engine mount, I made the bracket
- the seat mount is the same as in the second link, with a bit of foam for cushioning.

Hope this helps. I still need to paint the mounts.

Cheers,
Dale

Ok, now I'm even more confused. The first thread has some really obtrusive mounts that I would say could have been done better.

And the 2nd thread is a tank from a XR650... Looking closer, the tank for the XR400 and XR650 are identical and interchangeable? And they're the same price. What the Hell.

To answer my own question, it looks like they are the same tank, just with different mounting brackets/locations

Anyone confirm this?

It's not super clean but nice forks and runs good.

Thanks in advance
In my opinion - he's asking too much for it w/ 30K on the clock if it isn't in REALLY good shape.

Sounds way to pricey for that amount of mileage.

They are the same tank, it's actually a XR250/400/600 Acerbis tank.

Would like to see how other DR owners have mounted XR tanks to their bikes.

DR350s 90 to 99 fork swap

Found some dr350 99 forks. Just wondering what else do I need to swap them on to my 90 DR350s. I suspect the axle is different and possible the caliper. If so can these be adapted/ modified or am I going to need to buy other parts that match the 99 forks.
