Yeah, would add substantially to what I'm sure is an already mega-price tag.

No doubt, it's going to be expensive. I'm going to guess +$50K easily.

Depends on the conversion. It's around $25k on top of your vehicle JUST for the Hemi. Figure another $12k, I'm thinking, just for the Brute conversion (I mean just the bodywork...bed, adding the cab closeout, new rear top section, frame extension). Then whatever you do as far as the suspension/tires/wheels, which will probably be another $10k for most buyers. Putting that all on top of a $35k new JKU Rubicon adds up fast, certainly. But if you buy a used JK and JUST get the Brute bodywork done, which you can certainly do, it wouldn't be $50k worth or even near it.

All that said, this one will be my fourth AEV vehicle.

I bought a 2004 LJ from them new with just a 4.5 lift, 35's, Dana 44 added to the front (there was no Rubicon option on LJ's until 2005), re-gearing, tire carrier, front bumper, winch, and some other misc goodies. Hated that I couldn't pass anything on the highway, so I sold it and bought a 2005 LJ Rubi that I had the 4.5 lift, 35's, other goodies, and the 5.7L Hemi added to. I really wanted a Brute, but with two kids it just didn't make any sense. Then Jeep came out with the JKU, so we got AEV to build us one of those with the 5.7L Hemi, lift, and 35's. Then I sent my LJ back to AEV and had it converted to a Brute anyway, and we currently have both.

My hope was I could sell both of my current vehicles and get JUST a JK Brute. But when I showed it to the wife and posed that plan she said "but I love my Jeep." I said "but this is a Jeep." She said "no it's not, it's a TRUCK and I love my JEEP." I mean I really love that woman, and that's tough logic to argue with, but damn, why did she have to go all woman on me?!?

So now I don't know what exactly we're going to do, other than I'll be selling my Brute and getting a four door Brute. It'll have the new 6.4L Hemi, and probably 37's.

After my Dad passed away back in '92, Mom decided she wanted a Jeep. I had a '92 Cherokee two door with the 5 speed and 4WD. Mom was impressed with it, but wanted a little bigger. Jeep came out with the redesigned Grand Cherokee in '93 and Mom was determined to have a manual transmission. She hunted far and wide and eventually located one of 500 produced for that year only in Colorado Springs. You guessed it, Flame Red. 246,000 miles later, I'm still driving that Jeep, 4WD inline 6 and a five speed, getting 21 MPG. Red Jeeps rock!

Jeep should be the company making some variant of that pickup body. I say it everytime somebody posts about that Gladiator concept, but I would be the first in line to buy a new Jeep if they offered a compact truck based on the Wrangler Unlimited platform.

I would be very interested in one also, however the problem comes down to the fantasy vs. the reality. Same syndrome as sporty wagons...

80,000 people say they would buy one, about 8,000 actually do.

That's why they sell the $5,500 JK-8 kit to convert it for those who are actually serious enough to want one.

I am not enough of a Jeep fan to pay that on top of buying the vehicle. If I am going to drop several thousand to have a compact truck then I will just buy a second vehicle. Which is exactly why I have both a Ranger 4x4 and a Cherokee.

The JK8 is pretty cool, but I think it would be way cheaper to buy a scrambler, and put a modern drivetrain in it.

Maybe 1/2 price cheaper

My Brute has been posted before here. There's an entire gallery for it here.

I don't own my first AEV rig any more, but here it is:

And I don't have any of the JKU that I can find.
