Yep, that was me on the DRZ. I was the only one there on a bike that had a license plate . I swapped bikes for a couple minutes with the guy on the RMZ450 and when he was done riding he said he wants a DRZ too. The DRZ feels like a Cadillac compared to the RMZ. The RMZ is faster and can handle the jumps, but the stiff suspension was really beating me up on the rough terrain. I have a feeling the RMZ would be a bit more fun on a MX track though .

For beach riding there's Vilano Beach (off A1A before you hit St Aug, 10mph speed limit) and Huguenot Memorial Park (also by the ferry on Heckscher/A1A, 5mph speed limit, 50 cent entry fee.) Obviously you can't go nuts, but it's still kinda fun. I'll be posting some video from yesterday at Huguenot in a minute.

There are some powerlines with trails off of them between 210 and Racetrack road, west of I-95. The section of powerlines immediately off of 210 is posted, so you have to head a little north to find the sections that aren't posted or gated.

I've also heard locally that people ride of the powerlines somewhere near Atlantic and 9A. Someone else told me there are some dunes or something out by the Jacksonville Zoo, but I haven't checked that out yet either.

I'm planning on trying out Ocala this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Durbin Park off Old St. Augustine Rd. in Bartram Park, 2,035 acres of public land w/ good dirt roads and some hiking trails...

I was sitting on my porch watching tropical storm Fay and I was surprised to see some guy come down the street on a motorcycle. Turns out it was numbskull. Then I wasn't surprised anymore.

New JAX ADV

Hi guys. I have been lurking the ADV forums for a few months and just discovered the Flatistan forum. There is a ton of good info and funny stuff here so it is no suprise.

I live on the Southside and have a green '08 KLR. I will watch this post to see when the next meetup is going to be. I will definately come hang out for beers and the telling of tall tales.

I propose we all meet Wednesday night 6:00pm on September 10th. we can all catch up on what everyone has been up to over the summer. That place at the beach we met at last time works for me. However, I can't seem to remember the name of it...

g27 you in??? Anyone else???

Dammit. We just got called - like 45 minutes ago - to head towards Louisiana to do disaster relief work. Dunno when we'll be back.

If I miss this one then y'all play nice.

Bleh... I will be out of town 8-10th in Denver.

Since PJ can't make it either, want to try to meet up the following week (Wed. 17th)?
