SA ADV Riders 2007 Hattah Desert Race July 14

Well! there seems to be a bit of interest in cheering on some of our crew who are entering the 2007 Honda Hattah Desert Race (ie Goldfinger known at this stage) and as the date cannot be changed I think its time to start a new ride thread for a camping overnighter 14th & 15th July.

http://www.nwvmcc.com/HATTAH%20EVENT.html

Riders so far;

Masterbrewer TDM 850
Bicks KTM 640
Bazzz (Renmark) XTE 600 joining at Paruna
Rick F650
Tony (Suby 4x4)
All Balls525 (4x4)

Here's a related link re roads there & back http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233807

Cheers

Damn.... I'm not able it make it along to this ride as the 24 Hour Trial is on the weekend before (our club is hosting 2 of the control points) & I cant get away two weekends in a row.

Anyway good luck to Goldfinger & Tim at Hattah.

Cheers, Sol..

Sorry to hear that Sol, maybe another trip.

Seems too many events on at this time of year.

Yeah MB your not wrong, it's a busy time of the year for events, ie. The Finke, The Mallee Masters, Rabbit Rippers, The 24 Hour & Hattah just to name a few.

Having said that I'm certainly looking forward to coming along on an ADV ride & see how my 625 goes on a longer run, the longest ride i've done so far has been the annual Rickaby Trail Ride & that 'Bakery Ride' we all did a month or so ago around the Fleurieu Peninsula (Mmmmm pies)...

Must admit the Melrose run looked great, was pi$$ed off that I couldnt make it, any chance of a Melrose Revisited ?

Cheers, Sol..

So that anyone interested in joining us can gauge their skills levels, Baz (XR600) from Renmark kindly did a recce of Pheeney's Track from the SA border side for us last week & reported that the parts he drove were OK for "overnighter" ie lightly loaded bikes

quote "The bit of Pheeneys track that I was on was not very sandy at all. The ground between the dunes is often stony limestone.Whether it is like this all the way across I don't know but I'll be taking my fully loaded bike through"

Here's a few piccies

There could also be a chance of a 4x4 joining us.

The ride's starting to look good, I wonder if we will actually reach Hattah?

Cheers for now

G'Day Kim,
When are you guys intending to leave? I'm considering heading over in the crusier as a couple of mates are riding Hattar. I intend to go through the Sunset NP, if I get a pass out, so maybe I could tag along and be the mobile esky?

cheers all balls525

................................cold beer!!!!!

Probably "sparrow fart" Saturday 14th as we have to get to Paruna before the petrol pump is switched off. (Still gotta check what time that is, got the phone No though and thought I'd ring up closer to the date, but apparently the new owners also own the Browns Well Tavern, so we should be able to fill up with something or other )

Final check of who's coming will assist meeting & routing to Walkers Flat (dirt of course) but after Walkers Flat (more dirt of course), it's basically due east to Paruna.

Looking forward to seeing the Goldfinger sticking it up 'em .........errrr so to speak that is!

Hope you can join us Craig

Cheers

Gold Finger should do really well, he's fast & smooth and can ride that GasGas 300 well.He had bad luck in the enduro a couple of weeks ago where the gear box locked up on the 3rd lap.

looking forward to catching up again with you all

Nice folk those country folk!

Phoned the Paruna General store yesterday to check on fuel availability times for the 14th

I was right about them owning both the tavern & the fuel outlet, wrong about opening times.

She said don't arrive before 10am but the pumps are open after that for the day.

"By the way, we are out of fuel today though?????"

Mmmmmmm!!!!!

If some cages are going, it might be just as easy to toss in a jerry can or two next to the eskies.

So we can count you in Craig?
Any others??

Actually the jerry cans won't probably be needed as she sounded like "if you let me know you are coming I'll make sure I have fuel" type of person.

Other local's who may know her may say different??????

Nevertheless I can see masterbrewer having to put aside some of the "famous champagne beer" here.

Cheers

Those interested in joining us to Hattah departing early Saturday 14th July returning after lunch (to be home before dark) Sunday, please PM your suburb & mobile contact so we can choose a convenient meet-up place for all heading east.

Thanks.

Cheers
