Hi all!
Due to my ISP going down on my at the worst possible moment, here's my second go at getting the next series of pics to you....... First of all, I'd like to say Gidday and thanks to my mate Steve in Chicago for unknowingly contributing a few of the pics in this thread - you're da man Steve - here's a pic so i can make him WORLD FAMOUS! ![]() Also seeing as this is my second go at this tonight, my captions might not be quite as snappy - i did decide to have the captions under the pics as opposed to above them as before - i think it works better below, yeah? Just one question - how can I load or link to bigger versions of my panorama's? I can a few really nice ones but the first one i posted - Mt Cook above - came out tiny and not at all what i'd intended - advice please! Anyhow, on with the show! ![]() Readying for departure at our Auckland hotel ![]() Huka Falls, Lake Taupo, centre of the North Island. NZ's largest lake at 622 square km's in size. Huka Falls is the outlet of the lake and can flow up to 250,000 cubic metres of water a second! ![]() Hi Greg and Cyndee!!!! From Elk Grove CA, Greg is a recently retired Motor Officer with the CHP ![]() The famous (and rightly so) Mussel Boys restaurant in the tiny seaside hamlet of Havelock in the Marlborough Sounds. Just around the corner from my Marlborough Sounds pic overlooking Moenui mentioned above. Greenlipped mussels are grown in marine farms in the Sounds and processed only 200m from this restaurant - so fresh fresh fresh! Note the two rugby teams battling on the roof! The New Zealand All Blacks are CRUSHING the UK Lions team....again.... ![]() A typical lunchtime feast! ![]() Here's Carolyn from Moraga CA enjoying the solitude of Onetahuti Beach in the Abel Tasman National Park. Carolyn and her hubby Mike and I enjoyed a 60 minute water taxi ride from Kaiteriteri to here, thence to walk about two hours back to Bark Bay where we lounged on the beach for about 45mins before the taxi picked us back up again for the ride home - just fabulous! ![]() ![]() ![]() The whole area of Golden Bay is overall very shallow which presents interesting challenges when the tide is in but still too shallow for the water taxi to make it into the beach - especially here at Marahau! ![]() Punakaiki - pancake rocks - a small part of a peculiar limestone rock formation on the west coast of the South Island. Covering quite a large area with a brilliant walking track and viewpoints for tourists - well worth the walk! ![]() Sunset from our rooms! Right on the beachfront! ![]() A great place to soak off the miles......on the Lewis Pass between Westport and Christchurch ![]() Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ![]() Back of beyond! Where's this Steve? ![]() From the top of the Crown Range road overlooking Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu in the far distance - you can even see the airport runway from up here! Just after the Cardrona hotel mentioned above.... Crown Range pano ![]() ![]() Mount Cook summit ![]() Even tho it was cold up here (it must have been right?), there was no wind and so I didn't feel any chill at all. We stayed about 20minutes but I could have stayed all day - awesome awesome!! ![]() Fox Glacier carpark ![]() Fox glacier - you can walk right up to the base/leading edge of the glacier....we didn't tho - we had the best roads in NZ to carve up! ![]() Lake Wakatipu ![]() Fiordland Well that's about it for now folks - unless you can tell me how to show off my panorama's properly! Take care and best wishes! S

And I'm pretty sure that the picture called Lake Wanaka is actually Lake Wakatipu, on the road from Kingston to Frankton (Devils Staircase) - not that I'm picky !
