Fly-n-Ride Western NC to Chicago

Hello All -

Looking for some advice, heading down in a couple weeks to ride back with a new bike. I can't take a ton of time, but also want to see and experience something more than the highway.

Heading out of Western NC, I was thinking Blue Ridge Pkwy to 441 to Knoxville.

Heading out of Knoxville I was thinking 27 through Daniel Boone to Louisville area.

Here is where I am looking for some advice, what is an interesting route from Louisville through IN to Chicago? I have only ever driven it in a car on the Hwy.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

US 150 to Terre Haute and then US 41 to Chicago?

The Dragon is in western NC just south of Knoxville. Highway 129. Worth a minor detour. Interstate 40 through the mountains between Asheville and Knoxville is really scenic as well, but that's the opposite way.

Indiana is damn flat, north of Bloomington. There's not much you can do to make it interesting. 41 will be a snooze fest but it's better than I-65. You might consider going west on US-24 when you get into northwestern Indiana.
