Thanks for the post

Could not find many of these roads again, just rode some of this route couple weeks back. Get better Gary, looking forward to more of your route riding in spring. Might go riding on Sunday again, this 26F weather is not my fav even with heated grips and gloves.

Thanks Guys - hopefully I will be ready to roll for next years Swinging Bridge Ride....this should give me some time to change things up a little for next years ride. I have to add some stuff that we rode when we went back wards last year that I wanted to check out. I'll make sure I route it so we all go the same way this year. Thinking of Starting / Stopping in St. Clair which will allow us to miss a bunch of pavement and get a little deeper into the Ozarks....

Hey Oh2RideMore - few years ago 2degreesout, ProDirt Dale, and I rode up to Clarksville in January. When we came down Hwy 79 into Clarksville that big bluff where the eagles always sit was shadowing the highway. We pulled over to take some pictures of the eagles sitting in the trees on that bluff and realized we were riding on an ice covered road..... ....in the winter that section of 79 doesn't see the sun.....

[quote=ThumperDRZ]Not on purpose - I've had shoulder problems that kept getting worse all summer so finally went for an MRI - Darn rotator is torn so next Friday I'll be under the knife with a 4 to 5 month layoff....(Man that's hard to think about)....I'll be prepping bikes for a little layoff over this weekend.....and getting one last good Mountain Bike ride in on Sunday

.. Gary, Hope it works out well. I had the same thing about two years ago. The surgery is a piece of cake but that physical therapy is pure he**. I was lucky enough to have a very pretty girl that was the daughter of a guy I went to high school with which made it much easier to take. Even after two years I don't have as much strength as I had before but no pain. Once they let you start doing some weight: START. Keep us updated.

Take that, evil forum software!
Thanks for the route! I got a copy of it, and want to ride it sometime in the upcoming future. Opened it up in Garmin Mapsource and it looks OK. Will upload it to my 2610 and see what it looks like there.

Yep, Open Source rocks!

skipped out last time

Left you guys at Kampsville gas station last time, looks like quite a bit left after that. Really want to check that out, but will wait until temps are above freezing for more than 24 hours to thaw some of those roads. For those of you that do not have a garage, how often do you go to move bike, unlock the bars, and can not get the key in? Damn, forgot to place my film canisters over the key cylinders. Went to move both bikes out of way of truck, and both cylinders frozen, and discs covered in ice locking wheel. Big pain in ass. Hairdryered my way out of this one, but remember to keep cylinder covered on those long adv rides at night when parked.

After Kampsville we made a mad dash to get to Pere Marquette to get to the lookout before the sun set.....we made it just in time as the sun was setting.

saturday ride

I did a little bit of the mo/il rt today. Good route just next time i think i will just shoot up hwy 79 so i can have more time in the good stuff. The gps is great life w/o it would not be that fun on the back roads. My electric vest finally gave up the ghost it was a little cold after it died. I guess off to gateway for a new one next week.

There is more gravel over here then in Illinois on this ride. Riding through the knobs of the Lincoln Hills between Troy and Louisiana is amazing. When I heal up I will take you on a gravel ride all the way to Hannibal through the Hills. Lots of fun. If you do decide to cut the Missouri side short take Highway W up to Clarksville. More twisty and scenic ....and even more fun find Highway F off of Highway 61 and run it as far as it goes northeast.. (twice ).....very twisty and fun.

Rode the IL section of Thumpers river road ride

Left stl this afternoon and headed up the river road from alton to grafton and started riding the route backwards. Gary, you picked a great route. Stopped in Kampsville for dinner at the inn. Rode back down to brussels and over. Made it back in time for sunset on the bluffs. Great day for a ride.

vstrom ride today

Ended up taking the v as the wr is currently without mirrors courtesy of a knockover while transporting. Tie down came undone, went around a corner and bike fell over against the stake panels on my stake bed truck. Busted the mirror bracket on clutch side and mirror on right side. Remembered I did ok with the strom before, and it worked fine today. Mostly back road ride through farms in IL. Maybe 15% gravel today?

I am new to posting on this site and I know riding season is slowing down but, if anyone from the Eastern KC areas are planning any rides let me know. I am interested in meeting some more riders in this area.
