Take a right and you'll go to Bass' River Resort. Take a left and you'll come to another T. From there Left goes by Floyd Tower to AA. Turn right and you'll go to Berryman Rd /8.

Or check out the hare scramble near Potosi on Sunday.

I haven't decided if I want to run it yet or not. My skills are not up to par, but I keep telling myself if I find a way to complete a lap (regardless how slow) I'd probably learn a lot.

Will be there at hare scrambles

Glad you mentioned the hare scrambles. Always thought about giving this a try. I will be there as an observer on Sunday. This place is right next to where I road last Saturday - on Floyd Tower in the Mark Twain national forest. I really want to see if I am up for a hare scramble - given that I am a broken down old man with limited skills.

Also, would be up for a ride on Saturday if anyone is open.

I wish I was riding, but looks like I will be bottling wine instead. But that will be fun too.

I hear they are good spectator events. Will this be the first you have been to?

Tons of good riding in that area (I was farting around Rogue Creek with Honz on Monday). You can even find some fun paved roads pretty much the whole way out. I think it's $5 to spectate, which is reasonable for a day trip ride + watching people rip dirt.

The Potosi race is scheduled for this Sunday and is organized by the Bison Valley Trail Riders. This race site is excellent for families to attend with multiple spectator viewing points that are easy to walk to. The land is beautiful and abundant with Bison. The landowner will be conducting ranch tours after the race as well as providing concessions again this year. The trail is 50% new from last year and is 8 miles of single track with a couple of straight-a-ways and creeks. There are elements for all types of riders. Weather is suppose to be beautiful, so hope to see you Sunday!

Hare Scrambles

I am undecided to race or watch, leaning toward watch so I don't have to drive the truck, but where is the Bison Ranch near Potosi where this thing is held?

Their directions are not quite as thorough as I'm accustomed to.

Quote:
Potosi, MO Gate: $5 per person For More Info: (314) 724-1214 or (314) 229-0458

From Potosi, MO. Go west oh Hwy. 185 to Hwy. AA. At Hwy. AA, turn left and go about 5 miles to Sayersbrooke Road. Follow arrows.
Messing with GoogleMaps suggests 37.97524,-90.897612 is where you start looking for the signs, and their mailing address is 11820 Sayersbrook Road, putting them about 2 miles from the AA/Sayerbooke intersection.

For what it's worth, I had the opportunity to work the Flatriver GP Hare Scramble back in the end of May with Pro Dirt Dale. I rode thru the course a couple times, sweeping it for riders who needed help. Did it on my Husaberg FE570. It was a good workout. Lots of KTM 300 2-strokes racing. 200 lb bikes. You just have to get out of the way when they come up behind you. Not sure how this course would compare to the Flarriver GP course. It was fun but not what I would say, relaxing

Is this the AMA event they do every year? I lost track of it again. I really want to ride it one of these years.
It's really not that long of a ride down there.
I may head that way, but I don't think I'll spend the night..

I'm getting out.. I may come visit. It's great to have choices! I'll be spectating, if I make it, that's for sure. I'd have tire tracks running up my back..

Yes, it's the AMA event. If you do come down there will be plenty of options for camping. I'll have room at my site. It's a real fun ride, they open the hiking trails up to us for two days. Some excellant riding!

Well I will see ya'll there. I am riding up Sunday morning to watch. Going to be on my Uly. I should be easy to recognize as I may be the only one with Touratechs on my Uly. Might try some trail riding before or after the event if there is time.

This will be my first time to watch a hares scramble. Do they actually let you ride the course if you are not participating? Is this open at any other time? Would love to get a feel for what a hares scramble course feels like to run.
