Dirty Leg--------as Sieg said-------you just need to show up and you will have know problem finding someone to ride with-------don't be shy.
The details of where and when will be coming shortly---so don't worry about that. A couple things tho---------if you like to sleep in---or show up late----everybody will be gone. Also---------this ride takes all day both days-----so be prepared to stay in the saddle. It's just that the miles---the backroads, stopping to take pictures and creek crossings just take time. So------if you take a 3 hour lunch---------you'll be riding in the dark. So wait until all the details show up and you'll be good to go. So just relax and have a cup of coffee---wait for all the details. You'll have a great time. BigDog

That's a great idea Joe! We take off at sunset and ride all night!!!! It would make the creek crossings even more interesting!

It is a law in Virginia, I have seen the statute. It basically says that the rider must be seated on a permanently installed seat at all times. Now it also says in the drivers license manual that you should stand up when going over bumps. Then again, I think Virginia is the only state where riding side- by-side is illegal. Not that you'd really want to ride that way anyway, but technically, if you pull up at a stoplight to talk you broke the law. There is one little town where one a LEO is reknowned for writing up those tickets. The stand up laws are really designed to stop stunting. Most people I know who have been pulled over have been let go with cautions after explaining reasonably to the officer the rationale. VA, not MO, but definitely on the books.

http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/pdf/dmv2.pdf I did find this: Watch for uneven surfaces such as bumps, broken pavement, potholes, or railroad tracks. If you have to ride over them, or obstacles such as a piece of tire tread or tailpipe, here’s what you should do: If time permits, slow down to reduce the jolt. Make sure the motorcycle is straight up. Rise slightly off the seat with your weight on the foot pegs so you can absorb the shock with your knees and elbows. Rising off the seat will cut your chances of being thrown off a bike. However, controlling the throttle can be somewhat tricky. Practice this technique in a safe area (such as a deserted parking lot) before you try to do it on-street. As a side bar I was grandfathered into my motorcycle drivers license in Missouri. Unfortunately I let my license expire and had to take both the car and motorcycle test about 15 years ago. When I took the motorcycle drivers test (I was on a Goldwing) I stood up during the total test. So I could see where to stop and where the cones were. I received a 100 on the driving test. But things change and laws change. I still have my doubts about the illegality of standing up while riding.

Attached is the Missouri Motorcycle Operator Manual.
http://dor.mo.gov/forms/Motorcycle_Operator_Manual.pdf On page 31 it shows a motorcyclist standing, for safety, as they approach a bump. I find no other mention of being illegal to stand while riding.
