We found a cool route last fall, go north of Kampsville to the first road and take it west to the Mississippi river side.
Go south and work your way back and forth between the rivers all the way to Batchtown. Cool ride.

*It's a KLR, I'll catch up*

sounds like a good chance we will cross paths... We will be coming from the west after coming up from hardin and kampsville. I'm hoping to have a nice lunch along the river. it's going to be a great day to ride!
See you all in the A.M !

Hannah and I had a great ride Sunday in Calhoun county. Our street bikes looked a little out of place with all those thumpers but those curvy country roads were awesome. Hope to get a chance for more meet ups soon. Swinging bridges was mentioned, it has become legendary. Good meeting you all too.

Yea don't think Lost Creek will ever be what it use to be, still fun but they've ran a grader through it and it just isn't as primitive as it once was.. enjoy it while it lasts!

SOOOOOOOOO, Labor Day weekend I am thinking of coming to Springfield to visit my brother. I am sure he will have to work a bit while I am there so I will have some free time. Planning on riding the Dr 650 out and am wondering if there is anyone who wants to do a ride while I am there.

Today's ride was a meet and greet type ride with Studad from here on the ADV forum. We met up in Willow Springs which is about 20 minutes from my house. I planned a 2 hour ride through some back highways and state letter roads which can sometimes be sketchy... Stewart was riding a BMW-R1200GT.
The state letter roads I picked both ended up being pretty sketchy, State highway AP was loaded with one lane bridges on all the good corners, so that kinda killed the buzz of zipping through the back roads. I go pretty slow around the corners for one lane bridges because you never know if someone will be on it. The second Right hander on AP had half the lane covered in huge gravel rocks and mud. Luckily there was enough room to move to the side and ride toward the left part of the lane.

The State number Highways that we went on were Beautiful. Highway 14 was clean without any debris and was the only road that I went on today with lines on the outside of the road, the rest were centerline only.... This is the road that the MO Twin Bridges are on, it goes over the white river. We stopped at a little shop there to grab some refreshments. The shop had a Border Collie dog that was playing with us on our break, he really like to chase our shadows and we were teasing him a little moving our arms around and freaking him out... ;)

We continued on and State Route C was the worst of the day. The road was rough and had lots of tar-snakes and other hazards that kept us cruising at a more moderate speed. There was even a dog that was along side the road, I was afraid he was gonna jump out in front of us and reek havoc. Good thing he didn't...

HYW 76 is a beautiful ride... there are lots of bluffs and open valleys that you ride into and it made for a magnificent view... unfortunately there were not too many good places to stop....

At the end of the ride we stopped at a scenic overlook that is about 8 miles from my house, this is the only picture that was taken for the day. The overlook is above Indian Creek, Indian Creek has cut a pretty good size ravine in the earth and if you poke your head over the hill it is a steep drop all the way to the bottom.

Beautiful day for a ride, sunny and 75 degrees, I wish it was like this all year long
