When I was a young pup, I rode many of the passes in Colorado. From the ridiculously easy like Cottonwood, Cumberland, Boreas and Independence to the modestly more challenging like Mosquito, Engineer, Cement Creek and Tincup to the more difficult ones.

Schofield and Black Bear fell into that last category.

If you're looking for a great list of all the neat passes try this link. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php

I'm leaving west county at 7 and plan to slab down to the area 270 to 55 south.
Well as most of you probably know....not many trails to be found down this way. I found a number of gravel roads, but the only trails I found I didn't have the property owners blessing to ride. I spoke to a farmer who happened to be parking his DS and he confirmed what I'd concluded.

Dropped into the River Aux Vases for a little Creek and sand play. You can feel every ounce of the GSA when in the sand.

Found a few new connector roads and just enjoyed the time exploring.

Yep, when I was laying out the PHBR it was hard to even find good gravel or 2 track the closer to I-55 you got, moving west it became easer to find acceptable roads.

I have experienced that myself, but thought I'd try to discover some hidden gems close to the mother in law for when I get to ride the morning of family events. Still a really good ride. The farmers trail was A1 ....If I would've ridden it

There have been some great riding days in and around Howell County this week.

Tonight I had to run our linens back to the cabin for another weekend.

Loaded with sheets and towels for 8.

Sounds great. Just out of curiosity, do you guys normally ride down gated roads? I try to stay public if possible.

The only adventure this week was washing my bike!

Started a ride report

Was in colorado last week for a dirt bike ride. I started a mostly video ride report which I'll be updating over the next several weeks.

KTM 390 Adventure

What I've found is the need for more hp just to eat up miles, more adventure touring..., plus my wife is really wanting to go on another 2up adventure.. but for the exploring adventures there's nothing like the WR250R.. esp. when you lay it over .. just wish it had the punch of my WR250F

bashr3r,
I was excited about the release of KTM 390 Adventure as well, but apparently not going happen based on the attached article from 3 days ago.

I just returned from 6 days on the COBDR on my 2012 WR250R. My bike performed great, but I was itching for more HP on Hurricane, California, Orphir, and Cork Screw passes (180lbs + wolfman luggage). I may need to see what else is coming out in 15' that fills the void. Planning on Utah BDR in 15' and don't want the same issue.

I'm curious, I thought the COBDR was laid out by guys on 990s and big GSs. Did you, or would you consider taking your 800 GS? I am thinking of going out in early Sept on a GSA..

I was out of town, but there was a pretty good wedding there this summer. It's begging for something though, while the lights and everything are sill up.

I rode it July of 2013 on a KLR650. The first day we got into some mud I wish I had a small bike for the mud.
If you get off of the BDR route a smaller bike would be a BLAST to have.
