The Ohlin’s rear and steering damper came on the bike when I bought it, the front forks had been rebuilt/revalved by Max’s BMW. Max setup this bike with all the parts when new…..I had a 950SE and a 690E before the HP2, I like the HP2 a lot better as far as the ride goes and performance. I can’t tell you if the stock rear shock is better because I never had it on. I did change to the EBC front brake pads and it does stop a lot better on the street but be easy with it in the dirt. I was lucky to find a bike with both sets of rim’s and a lot of nice parts already on it. I shipped it here from NH from the original owner, found it on ebay and it didn't sell. Two emails later I own an HP2. The HPN tank and Akra full system I put on. I bought the upgraded kickstand bracket from Atlanta BMW, the bike was about to fall over before I changed it. Do a search on the forum for Boosterplug….it works well and it’s cheap….read Jens website. The people that have purchased it seem to be pleased, I was. Ive owned the bike for 4 months and put 5k on it so far. I have done a bunch of the 3 day dual sport rallies so far...it's great. The K60 on the rear is new, hope it last longer than the last 3 tires did.

That Akra sticker on the wrong side of the pipe just underscores the fact that this is some kind of universal muffler for them that they or HPN now builds a header to fit. Looks mighty dorky with the sticker on the wrong side of that can but the see-through pipe sure tells a story right out of the box.
