instrument panel switches 1985 R80RT?

Had a look round on the fiche to no avail. I would like to find the correct switches that go in those holes now occupied by the little block off covers on the instrument panel in my fairing (to the right and left of the gauges in the top panel.) and in the bar cover. They are the same me thinks.

I figured they would be esoteric but DAMN! Not one answer in a few hours...here in Airheads! WOW! I usually ask a question here and step away for 5 minutes and have ten answers!

So, what switches do you want?
There are a bunch of different ones for all kinds of functions. The only one listed on your particular fiche is the heated grip switch, check other fiches.
ALL are the same fitment from 1985 ( including K bikes) till the very latest oilheads. They all interchange, you've just gotta think outside of the box.

unlike me, they ain't cheap.
I would look around on the LT RT pages for K bikes and the like. lots more options and I remember a factory driving light kit for the K.
IF I was looking for some, I would be on Ebay searching.

Watch FleaBay for the stock wiring harness and switch for the fold out driving lights. Get the relays as well. Hell, watch for the complete system. Those stock Bosch lights are fantastic. Right side is a fog light and left side is a driving light. If you get the proper wiring harness and relays, pretty easy to wire in and they will work as per the MOT requirements. i.e. flip the switch once, and the fog light comes on with the headlight. Flip to high beam and the fog light goes off and the driving light comes on. Flip back to low beam and driving light goes off and fog light comes back on. Works perfectly.

The only problem with the stock flip out lights is that you loose the vents. This can be an issue if you are driving in very hot weather.

I was in a similar situation with a faulty switch for the heated hand grips. Seems like you can't just buy the switch but had to buy the whole harness as well ( R's & K's). I think it ran about $70.

All the ones off the shelves at auto shops here where either too small or too big or just too expensive.

So I got one of these for $8 on Ebay ( one on the right ) Waterproof with LED . I did have to dremel a bit to make it fit .

The one on the left is a KURYAKYN DOUBLE ROCKER SWITCH ( I have taken my home made cover off so you can see it better ). Fits in with a tad of filing ... and gives you two single pole switches.) I use that one for my two sets of riding lights.

I also have the two more KURYAKYN DOUBLE ROCKER SWITCH in the dash. These give me 4 lighting options. I have some emergency LED's (constant power in case I break down in the middle of nowhere and I can take my key ) some extra park LED's and two sets of extra running lights. Yes I know its excessive but a black bike in the rural Australia you can't have too many lights.

I bought switches from a marine supply store. Waterproof boating rockers and they are a lot cheaper then BMW switches.

Thanks! I looked at that link and those are NLA but might pop up again...I hope. I don't NEED stock switches just something that will work and I really like the lighted WP LED switches a lot. thanks again!

I piced up stock switches from ebay. On my '87 R80RT I have an '02 R1150RT fog light switch and a '00 R1100RT heated grip switch. The switches have not changed in many years and the fit in like factory.
