The museum owner lives about 20 miles from Carcross, so he has not made it very far yet. He has a donation jar to help pay for the gas in the bus. He said he loaded all of the bikes in the bus for winter storage last fall, and decided to leave them in and put the show on the road.

Skagway was nice, the trip there was great. But there were 2 HUGE cruise ships at the dock when we were there, and there were thousands of people wandering the one touristy street. It was a real tourist trap. But the scenery was great.

I spent a week in Dawson City. Spent a lot of the time learning about the Stampeders coming up from Skagway.....doing the Chilcoot pass with 2000 lbs of supplies in the dead of winter, with 500 miles of wilderness and river running left to do before they got to Dawson City.........and then to find all the gold claims were already staked.

Those guys were real men..................not to mention old Slim Williams.

In 1939, noted musher Charles "Slim" Williams began his trip from Fairbanks to the World's Fair in New York, travelling by motorcycle along the proposed route of the International American-Canadian Highway.

I copied that out of an old newpaer artical on the internet......

There is a lot of really interesting history in that country, we stopped at few museums and goldmines along the way. They made people a lot tougher in those days!
