Ews Help
Did a search, came up short. Am starting a 4,000 mile trip on my 07 ADV GS and have an extra EWS ring wit me, but looking at the key/ ring area on the triple clamp I dont see the wiring to the switch. I assume I'd need to plug the new EWS ring into the loom to start the bike, so where is the plug"?

Where Ya Been...DO THIS
You're going on a trip. Get to your dealer ASAP and get your old antenna ring swapped out for the new one. It's part of a nationwide (worldwide) 'recall' or whatever anyone wants to call it.

Another perspective
If your 07 has more than 6000 miles on it, chances are good that if it were going to fail it would have already. Check your vin against the campaign chart because some of the early 07's were not even effected. Carrying a spare is probably a good idea but there's no need to run down to the dealer and delay your trip.
My 07 has 22,000 miles on it and I have no concerns about my EWS going south on the 3000 mile ride I am leaving on next week. My VIN is listed in the "campaign" but I'm really not worried. These things fail early in their life.

Its pretty simple, if your bike's not knocking then don't get the upgrade. Many are reporting new issues after the software upgrade such as fuel gauge issues and other minor annoyances.

Got those symptoms for the running, too. I just hate giving them the bike during the riding season.

Another little tidbit that I should mention (because I read the TSB at the dealer yeterday) is the software update is only for late 07 and 08 bikes that have the new engine management computer dubbed BMSK-C. These are bikes that have ASC or are capaple of having ASC using the info that Poolside posted in another thread.
My 07 bike was built in December of 06 and has the older engine management computer dubbed BMSK that is not capabe of ASC and is not covered under the service bulliton that I read over the dealers shoulder. So long story short, even if your bike runs rough at low RPM's, the software update will do no good unless you have that newer engine managment computer.

May I ask where you guys are reading the number from?
I have a 2007 model (09/2006 plated), for which the square antenna block with the wires running to it (and sitting in front of the key barrel) reads 4135 7696463-10 PBT GF20 < REC25 FCC ID QB4 1417121 Have I got a different one to the 136, 207, 247 models, or am i not looking in the right spot?

Bonox,
My '07 GSA has a "463" also..........I just bought a spare "247" to carry in case of failure and in the near future, my dealer is going to replace the "463" ring antenna. |
